Jared Gordon

Takes razor-thin split decision
October 2, 2021
Gordon defeated Joe Solecki via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
Both men had their moments in what was a close fight throughout. Gordon got progressively better as the fight went along, which typically earns you favorable marks in the eyes of the judges. Gordon was on the wrong end of a 35-6 strike count in Round 1, but he turned the tables and ended up out landing Solecki 77-35 over the course of the final ten minutes. The fact Gordon allowed Solecki to connect on four takedown attempts in a concern, but Gordon did enough in the other areas of the fight to earn the win. The 33-year-old New Yorker was wildly inconsistent during his early days with the company, but Gordon has won four of his past five fights, with the only defeat coming at the hands of current UFC Lightweight Champion Charles Oliveira back in November 2019.

Slated to face Solecki in October
June 7, 2021
Gordon will take on Joe Solecki at a UFC event scheduled for Oct. 2, MMAJunkie.com reports.
Gordon missed weight by four pounds for his fight in February but still defeated Danny Chavez via unanimous decision at UFC Vegas 19. He's now won back-to-back fights and will now face Solecki, who has won his last three matchups. Solecki most recently defeated Jim Miller via unanimous decision at UFC on ABC 2 in April. The fighters are even in height, but Solecki has a reach advantage.
Wins clear three-round decision
February 20, 2021
Gordon won a unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) against Danny Chavez at UFC Vegas 19 on Saturday.
Gordon's pressure, boxing, low kicks and grappling were vital difference makers in his victory. Once Gordon was able to ground Chavez, he established firm top control that helped him win Rounds 2 and 3. Gordon's cardio and pace have been two big reasons for previous UFC victories, just like his performance against Chavez. While the win was strong, it comes with a bit of an asterisk given the fact Gordon missed weight by four pounds Friday.
Fight still on after weight miss
February 19, 2021
Gordon's scheduled featherweight matchup against Danny Chavez will proceed as planned despite Gordon missing weight by four pounds Friday morning, John Morgan of MMAJunkie.com reports.
Gordon will have to forfeit 30 percent of his fight purse to his opponent, but he'll still get a chance to compete at UFC Vegas 19 on Saturday. He sits as roughly a (+120) underdog for the matchup as of Friday morning.
Four pounds overweight
February 19, 2021
Gordon weighed in at 150 pounds Friday, four pounds over the featherweight limit for a non-tile fight.
Gordon has had a relatively clean recent history on the scales, though he has missed weight before when he checked in at 149 pounds for his debut matchup against Michel Quinones back in the summer of 2017. That followed up a previous weight cut attempt that ended in hospitalization, but he's competed largely without issue in the six fights that followed. It's unclear if this fight will be allowed to move forward as planned, but any compromise will result in Gordon surrendering a large chunk of his fight purse. He was already considered an underdog for this matchup, checking in at approximately (+120) as of Friday morning.
Paired against Danny Chavez
November 21, 2020
Gordon will take on Danny Chavez in a featherweight matchup on Feb. 20, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
Gordon won his first two fights as a UFC fighter before going on to lose three of his next five. He's at least coming off a win in his most recent match, however, as he beat Chris Fishgold by unanimous decision in July. His opponent, Chavez, has fought just once with the promotion, defeating T.J. Brown by unanimous decision in August.
