Jared Gordon
Suffers crushing late defeat
December 15, 2018
Gordon lost to Joaquim Silva via TKO (punches) at 2:39 of Round 3 at UFC on Fox 31 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Saturday.
Gordon began the fight well, hurting his opponent in Round 1 but was unable to get Silva out of there. A deep kneebar in the closing seconds of the second frame led to compromised movement for "Flash" which allowed Silva to find his chin and execute a standing TKO. Gordon is lauded for his cardio and work rate but had trouble with the power and grappling acumen of Silva, both of which worked to empty his gas tank. Gordon posted on Twitter after the fight that he tore his hamstring and possibly his LCL, meaning he may be in line for a lengthy period of recovery. Gordon falls to 14-3 in professional MMA as a result of the loss.
