Books fight for September
August 10, 2020
Frevola is slated to face Roosevelt Roberts in a lightweight bout at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Sept. 12, Marcel Dorff of reports.
Frevola was initially scheduled to face Frank Camacho back in June, but he was pulled from the card after one of his corners tested positive for COVID-19. The 30-year-old was victorious in his most recent fight back in October 2019, when he defeated Luis Pena via split decision.
Cornerman tests positive for COVID-19
June 18, 2020
Frevola has been pulled from Saturday's matchup against Frank Camacho after one of his cornermen tested positive for COVID-19, he announced via his personal Instagram account.
Frevola had been sitting as a (-120) betting underdog against Frank Camacho as of Thursday morning, but it now appears this bout could be in serious jeopardy. Per the post, Frevola claims to have been tested twice with both results returning negative. Furthermore, he provided the UFC with proof of his positive antibodies test from April 30, but that wasn't enough to convince company brass to let him compete. It's an interesting decision, as middleweight Ian Heinisch went through a similar situation a few weeks ago with one of his cornermen testing positive. Heinisch was originally announced as pulled from the card, but the bout was reinstated, and he went on to get a TKO victory. It's unclear if that same course of action is even on the table for Frevola, who has expressed willingness to re-book this fight as soon as possible.
Matches up with Camacho June 20
May 24, 2020
Frevola and Frank Camacho agreed to a lightweight bout at UFC's June 20 event, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
Frevola was poised to face Roosevelt Roberts at UFC Lincoln in late April, but it was one of the many events cancelled due to coronavirus. Frevola is on a two-fight win streak, having beat Luis Pena via split decision at UFC Fight Night 161 in October. Camacho is looking for a rebound performance after losing three of his last four bouts.
Added to Lincoln card
February 13, 2020
Frevola will fight Roosevelt Roberts at UFC Lincoln on April 25, Nolan King of reports.
Frevola is coming off back-to-back wins via split decision, and he'll now look to extend that streak against Roberts. The 5-foot-9 Frevola is at a clear disadvantage in terms of height compared to the 6-foot-1 Roberts, but he does boast impressive durability and a solid all-around skillset.
Moves above .500 in UFC career
October 12, 2019
Frevola defeated Luis Pena via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Tampa.
Frevola has now won his last two bouts -- both via decision -- and he did so as an underdog in both fights. He entered at +125 on Saturday, and did just enough to secure the win. Frevola mixes a strong wrestling base -- he landed 4-of-7 takedowns against Pena -- with plenty of grit and toughness. He's generally durable, displays decent cardio, and is reasonably effective on the mat. It's rarely pretty with Frevola and his ceiling is very limited, but the Long Island native and product of Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series is now 2-1-1 in his first four UFC bouts dating back to January 2018.
