Scores huge KO in Vegas

Spann defeated Misha Cirkunov via TKO (punches) at 1:11 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
A quick knockout from Spann is the latest in a long line of unexpected finishes on this card. Spann had four knockouts in his pro career prior to Saturday, but he's generally known as a submission specialist due to his long 6-foot-5 frame. Those ground skills were unnecessary in this one as he popped an overwhelmed Cirkunov countless times before the action was finally stopped by referee Mark Smith just 71 seconds in. Honestly, this result likely says more about where Cirkunov is at than Spann at this point, but it was impressive nonetheless. It hasn't always been pretty, but Spann is now 5-1 in his first half dozen UFC bouts.
Cirkunov clash rebooked for March 13

Spann will square off against Misha Cirkunov (undisclosed) on the UFC's March 13 card, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
Spann and Cirkunov were originally scheduled to collide in mid-December, but an undisclosed injury for Cirkunov forced it to be pushed back a few months. It appears the two are set on a new date, as Spann looks to rebound from his second loss in the UFC, which came at the hands of Jimy Walker via a first-round knockout. Given that the two have each seen more than half of their UFC bouts end before the first-round bell, this one has a good chance to be over in a flash.

Suffers first UFC loss

Spann lost to Johnny Walker via TKO (elbows) at 2:46 of Round 1 at UFC FIght Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
Spann is going to be kicking himself following this one. He cracked Walker in the early going and appeared to be in pretty good shape after pinning his opponent up along the fence, but Spann didn't tie up Walker's arms and his opponent unleashed a serious of furious elbows to the side of his head a la Travis Browne. Spann appeared to be upset as the decision was announced, perhaps thinking the elbows were to the back of his head and thus illegal shots, but they all appeared to land to the side. The loss snaps an eight-fight winning streak for Spann and is his first setback since July 2017.
