Arman Tsarukyan

Grapples way to victory
July 27, 2019
Tsarukyan defeated Olivier Aubun-Mercier via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28 29-28) at UFC 240 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on Saturday.
Tsarukyan dropped his UFC debut to a strong grappler in Islam Makachev but found much more joy in this matchup, as he was able to run OAM into the fence and either control him or get him to the ground several times throughout the fight. While wrestling/grappling is his strength, Tsarukyan has shown himself to be a functional kickboxer as well, which could make him an interesting guy to watch going forward. He improves to 14-2 in professional MMA as a result of the victory.

Pinned against Aubin-Mercier
May 30, 2019
Tsarukyan has been booked to fight Olivier Aubun-Mercier in a lightweight bout at UFC 240 on July 27.
Tsarukyan is still searching for his first UFC victory after dropping his debut just over a month ago to Islam Makhachev via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 149. It didn't take the 22-year-old long to book his next fight, and he'll look to get back on track against Aubun-Mercier, who has dropped two fights in a row after rattling off four straight victories in the Octagon. Aubin-Mercier isn't quite the steamroller that Makhachev is, but he'll be fighting in his native Canada and has much more experience under the bright lights of the UFC.
Comes up short in wrestling battle
April 20, 2019
Tsarukyan lost to Islam Makhachev via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Saint Petersburg.
Tsarukyan came out in this fight, and he clearly wanted to wrestle. He was able to score the first takedown against Makhachev in the UFC, but that was the only one he scored. In the end, Makhachev was the one who was able to score takedowns and control the fight with his wrestling. Neither fighter was really able to get anything going in the striking, and the takedown battle was the fight.
