Arman Tsarukyan

Russia

Rolls as massive favorite
LightweightUFC
September 18, 2021
Tsarukyan defeated Christos Giagos via TKO (punches) at 2:09 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Total domination. A -850 favorite entering the evening, Tsarukyan, who is known as a high-level wrestler, showed off his striking skills in this one. He popped Giagos with a left hand before unloading with everything but the kitchen sink prior to the stoppage. Tsarukyan is an elite prospect and it was nice to see his secondary skills on display in this fight. Still just 24 years old, Tsarukyan has rattled off four straight victories since dropping a unanimous decision defeat to fellow stud Russian lightweight Islam Makhachev in his UFC debut in April 2019. The ceiling here is through the roof. Tsarukyan is legitimately one of the brightest prospects in all of MMA.

Ready for Sept. 18 bout
LightweightUFC
August 10, 2021
Tsarukyan will take on Christos Giagos in a lightweight bout at the UFC event Sept. 18, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
This card is expected to take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Tsarukyan has won his last three bouts over Olivier Aubin-Mercier, Davi Ramos, and Matt Frevola. He has now won 15 of his last 16 professional fights, with his only loss coming in his UFC debut against Islan Makhachev.
Dominates after missing weight
LightweightUFC
January 23, 2021
Tsarukyan defeated Matt Frevola via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-26) at UFC 257 on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
ANALYSIS
It was an excellent effort from Tsarukyan. Of course, virtually all of the good will he built up inside the Octagon on Saturday was strongly negated by the fact he missed weight by one pound on Friday. Offensively, it was a flawless performance from Tsarukyan. He won the total strike battle by a count of 103-51, landed 10-of-12 takedown attempts, and racked up 8:24 worth of control time in a 15-minute bout. The 24-year-old Tsarukyan has won three straight -- all via unanimous decision -- since dropping his UFC debut to the perennially underrated Islam Makhachev back in April 2019. There's all sorts of potential here if the Russian can get the weight cutting issues under control.
Gets new opponent, misses weight
LightweightUFC
January 22, 2021
Tsarukyan will face Matt Frevola in a lightweight bout at UFC 257 on Saturday after missing weight by one pound, Aaron Bronsteter of TSN.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
Original opponent Nasrat Haqparast was forced to withdraw due to an illness, but Frevola was available after his opponent, Ottman Azaitar (undisclosed), also withdrew. Tsarukyan was able to shed some weight after coming in heavy at the first weigh-in, but he was still over the lightweight limit in his second attempt and will forfeit 20 percent of the purse with Frevola.
Facing Nasrat Haqparast in January
LightweightUFC
November 19, 2020
Tsarukyan will square off against Nasrat Haqparast in a lightweight matchup at UFC 257 on Jan. 23, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Tsarukyan will be looking to extend his winning streak to three, having defeated Olivier Aubin-Mercier and Davi Ramos by unanimous decision in his last two matches. Haqparast will be looking for his second straight win, as he bounced back from a knockout loss to Drew Dober in January with a unanimous decision win against Alex Munoz in August. Tsarukyan is listed as a betting favorite of roughly (-200) as of early-January.
Flawless performance in victory
LightweightUFC
July 18, 2020
Tsarukyan defeated Davi Ramos via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
ANALYSIS
Ramos is no pushover and Tsarukyan blew the doors off him. It was a flawless all-around performance. Tsarukyan displayed a remarkable blend of wrestling, creative striking and overall Octagon awareness. He never allowed Ramos to get in any sort of rhythm offensively and knew exactly when to push forward and press the attack. The sample size is small but Tsarukyan's age (23) combined with an impressive all-around skillset would appear to give the Russian a massive ceiling. It was recently revealed that Tsarukyan signed a new four-fight contract with the UFC prior to this bout, so he will be around for the foreseeable future.
