Movsar Evloev

Survives to remain undefeated
January 23, 2021
Evloev defeated Nik Lentz via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC 257 on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
This one didn't come easy for the undefeated Evloev, and it was especially difficult when you take into account he entered as the biggest favorite on the card at -705. The truth of the matter is that he was in pretty good shape for a good portion of the fight outside of Round 1, where Lentz threatened with a deep guillotine choke. Evloev managed to survive that and easily outclassed Lentz on the feet the rest of the way. The soon-to-be 27-year-old Evloev would appear to be an especially bright prospect, but all four of his UFC victories have come via decision, and that could potentially be a cause for concern moving forward.

Steps in for Grundy at UFC 257
January 10, 2021
Evloev is slated to face Nik Lentz in a featherweight fight Saturday at UFC 257 in Abu Dhabi after Mike Grundy withdrew from the bout when one of his team members tested positive for COVID-19, Mike Heck of reports.
Evloev was previously scheduled to fight Dec. 5 in Las Vegas, but the bout was cancelled after he tested positive for COVID-19. The 26-year-old has since recovered from the virus and will step in as a short-notice replacement for Grundy, whom Evloev coincidentally defeated in his last trip to the Octagon back in July on Fight Island.
Saturday's fight scrapped
December 5, 2020
Evloev's scheduled fight against Nate Landwehr at UFC Vegas 16 on Saturday was canceled, Mike Heck of reports.
The fighters won't enter the Octagon on Saturday after Evloev reportedly tested positive for COVID-19. It's unclear whether Evloev is experiencing symptoms, and a return timetable for the 26-year-old hasn't yet been established.
Booked for December fight
November 7, 2020
Evloev will take on Nate Landwehr (illness) in a featherweight matchup at UFC Vegas 16 on Dec. 5, Marcel Dorff of reports.
Evloev defeated Mike Grundy via unanimous decision in July, and he was dominant in the striking department while encountering some early issues on the mat. He's won his first three fights under the UFC banner via decision. Landwehr withdrew from UFC 253 in September, but he'll be ready to return by the beginning of December. Landwehr earned his firs UFC win in May when he defeated Darren Elkins via unanimous decision at UFC Jacksonville. Landwehr has an edge in height, while Evloev carries an advantage in reach.
Takes easy decision in Abu Dhabi
July 25, 2020
Evloev defeated Mike Grundy via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
Evloev deserves credit for working through some early issues in this one. He allowed Grundy to land six successful takedowns but did an excellent job of working his way right back to his feet. This fight was lopsided in the striking department. Evloev landed 96 total strikes compared to just 25 from Grundy. The Russian has proven to be a pretty well rounded mixed martial artist over the course of his first three UFC bouts (all victories), with the one major complaint against him being that all three of those wins have come via decision. Evloev is a clear fighter to keep an eye on moving forward at 135 pounds.
Gets Grundy on Fight Island
June 11, 2020
Evloev will take on Mike Grundy in a featherweight matchup July 25 on Fight Island, reports.
Evloev had multiple fights come and go in 2020 even prior to the pandemic, as a motorcycle accident prevented him from making the walk to the cage against Jamail Emmers back at UFC 248. HIs time with the UFC has been successful otherwise, however, as Evloev owns a pair of wins against Enrique Barzola and Seung Woo Choi. He'll be taking on a fighter in Grundy that is 1-0 with the company following a March 2019 stoppage victory over Nad Narimani. Both men stand at 5-foot-7 with a 72-inch reach.
