Rafael Fiziev

Gets UFC contract renewed
August 5, 2020
Fiziev announced Wednesday via his personal Twitter account that he signed a new four-fight agreement with the UFC.
After suffering a first-round loss to Magomed Mustafaev in his promotional debut in April 2019, Fiziev has bounced back nicely, claiming unanimous-decision victories over Alex White in October 2019 and Marc Diakiese on July 18. Now 8-1-0 in his professional fighting career, the 27-year-old looks to be a prospect on the rise in the lightweight division.

Strong run continues
July 18, 2020
Fiziev defeated Marc Diakiese via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
It was an excellent effort from Fiziev that was made all the more impressive by the fact he accepted this fight a little over a month ago after Alan Patrick (undisclosed) was forced to withdraw. Fiziev stood toe-to-toe with the bigger, longer Diakiese and was able to match him punch for punch. This fight wasn't as close as the final stats -- a 78-68 edge for Fiziev in total strikes landed -- would lead you to believe. It did get Fight of the Night honors, however, landing both men a $50,000 bonus. Fiziev lasted 86 seconds in his UFC debut against Magomed Mustafaev in April 2019, but he has since run off a pair of impressive unanimous decision wins over Diakiese and Alex White. Fiziev has firmly regained his status as a legitimate prospect following his rough debut.
Slated to face Diakiese
June 13, 2020
Fiziev is the targeted replacement for Alan Patrick (undisclosed) versus Marc Diakese on the July 18 card at UFC "Fight Island," Nolan King and Farah Hannoun of MMAJunkie.com report.
Fiziev was quickly targeted to take Patrick's spot after he voided it just three days after the fight was announced. This should give him ample time to prepare for the bout in just over a month as Fiziev looks to follow up his first career UFC victory versus Alex White at Fight Night 162. Both fighters prefer to remain upright, but Fiziev sits at a two-inch disadvantage in both height and reach, so he'll need to work in close.
Regains prospect status at UFC Singapore
October 27, 2019
Fiziev defeated Alex White via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Singapore.
In his UFC debut Fiziev did not get the chance to display his high level striking as he was stopped early by Magomed Mustafaev. However, he was able to flex that standup here against White. He got off to a quick start and easily outworked White through the first two rounds. He outlanded his opponent 45 to 28. In the third round, White was able to stage a comeback, but it was too little too late. Perhaps the most impressive aspect of Fiziev's performance was his ability to stop White's takedowns. He comes from a mostly striking background, but he stoned all 11 takedown attempts. Fiziev has clearly regained his status as a top lightweight prospect with this performance.
To fight in Singapore
October 7, 2019
Fiziev will take on Alex White at UFC Singapore on Oct. 26, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
Fiziev's UFC career thus far has lasted less than two minutes, as Magomed Mustafaev beat him by TKO just 1:26 into Round 1 of his debut back in April. A broken foot caused him to be scratched from a scheduled fight in July, but he's apparently good to go now.
Scratched from Uruguay card
July 24, 2019
Fiziev has been removed from his fight against Alex Da Silva at UFC Uruguay due to a broken foot, Marcel Dorff of MMA DNA reports.
Fiziev was slated for his second fight after lasting just 1:26 in his debut against Magomed Mustfaev. Unfortunately, he will have to wait longer for another chance after suffering a foot injury, leaving the date of his return to the octagon in flux.
