Steamrolled in late-notice return

May 10, 2025
Prepolec lost to Benoit Saint-Denis via submission (arm-triangle choke) at 2:35 of Round 2 at UFC 315 on Saturday in Montreal.
ANALYSIS
Released from the UFC back in March 2020, Prepolec was forced to accept this fight on just days' notice in order to get back with the company. The end result was a forgone conclusion from the very start, but Prepolec showed his trademark toughness in lasting to the middle of Round 2 considering he was on the defensive literally the entire bout. Obviously, BSD is an excellent opponent, so the fact Kyle didn't show much here isn't a huge concern. The bigger issue is the fact he'll be 36 years of age in late-August. Regardless, Prepolec is going to get another fight with the UFC due to his willingness to "save" this bout.

Surprise UFC return scheduled
WelterweightUFC
May 6, 2025
Prepolec will step in on short notice to face Benoit Saint-Denis in a lightweight matchup at UFC 315 on Saturday in Montreal, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Prepolec has bounced around on the regional circuits since his last UFC fight in 2019, most recently winning his third consecutive fight via stoppage under the banner of BTC Promotions back in June of 2024. He now makes an opportunistic UFC return in his native Canada with literally nothing to lose. Prepolec will be a massive underdog despite the fact that Saint-Denis has dropped two fights in a row, but Prepolec will get a massive spotlight and plenty of goodwill with the company for his willingness to "save" this fight.
No longer with UFC

March 21, 2020
Prepolec was released by the UFC on Friday, MMA Junkie reports.
ANALYSIS
Prepolec lasted the full three rounds in each of his two UFC bouts but was handled pretty easily in his debut and outmatched again in his second go around. He reportedly will continue pursuing the career elsewhere with hopes of returning to the promotion at a future date.
Falls to 0-2 in UFC
WelterweightUFC
September 14, 2019
Prepolec lost to Austin Hubbard via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC on ESPN+ 16 on Saturday in Vancouver.
ANALYSIS
Prepolec came out busy early, winning the battle of significant strikes in Round 1 by a count of 28 to 17. That was the peak of the fight for the Canada native, however, as Hubbard started to engage his wrestling game in Round 2, registering 2 takedowns. Prepolec spent the majority of Round 3 on his back, where Hubbard continued to score even if he wasn't doing much damage. Prepolec was given the benefit of the doubt after dropping his short-notice debut to Nordine Taleb in May, but he didn't necessarily inspire much confidence in his second trip to the Octagon, even with a full fight camp.
Fighting Hubbard in Vancouver

July 24, 2019
Prepolec will face off against Austin Hubbard during UFC Vancouver on Sept. 14, Aaron Bronsteter of TSN.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
Prepolec is 12-6 as a pro, winning the majority of his bouts via KO/TKO and losing the majority of his fights by decision. His most recent outing was his UFC debut, where he was defeated via decision by Nordine Taleb. Prepolec's opponent, Hubbard, also took a loss via decision during his UFC debut, which was his most recent fight. He is 10-3 as a pro, winning 80 percent of his fights by either KO/TKO or decision, while losing two of his three bouts by decision and the other by submission.
Drops late-notice UFC debut

May 4, 2019
Prepolec lost to Nordine Taleb via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night in Ottawa.
ANALYSIS
In for an injured Siyar Bahadurzada on a weeks' notice, Prepolec couldn't get a heck of a lot going in his UFC debut. He was most competitive in Round 1 before his cardio quickly vanished and Taleb took control of the bout. Perpolec spent his professional career prior to Saturday on the regional circuit and based upon his effort in this one, he might find himself back there sooner rather than later.
