Austin Hubbard

Inconsistent ways continue
August 21, 2021
Hubbard lost to Vinc Pichel via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC on ESPN 29 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
The scorecards here are somewhat deceiving because Hubbard appeared to win Round 1. Other than that, Pichel was in control. "Thud" was beaten to the punch early and often following the opening frame. It's not particularly promising that Hubbard landed two successful takedowns in each of the final two rounds and clearly lost both of them. Hubbard has had all sorts of difficulty stopping his opposition the past few years, making it imperative he keep a strong pace for the duration of his bouts. The 29-year-old Colorado native has now alternated losses and wins in his first seven UFC bouts, meaning he should be in line for a victory his next time out.
