Austin Hubbard

Inconsistent ways continue
August 22, 2020
Hubbard lost to Joe Solecki via submission (Rear-Naked Choke) at 3:51 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
Hubbard could not have been any less effective if he tried. After getting popped on the feet a half dozen times by Solecki in the early going, Hubbard allowed his opponent to eventually take his back from a standing position and that was all she wrote. "Thud" appeared to be in great shape heading into this one, but his performance simply wasn't where it needed to be. The 28-year-old Colorado native has an excellent frame (5-foot-10) the division, but consistency has been a major issue for Hubbard. He has now alternated wins and losses in his first five UFC bouts.

Earns stoppage win

Hubbard defeated Max Rohskopf via TKO (doctor's stoppage) at 5:00 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
It started poorly for Hubbard before quickly turning into a rout in favor of the +170 underdog. Hubbard had all sorts of issues with Rohskopf's grappling game in the early going. He gave up multiple takedowns and was clearly at a disadvantage on the mat. The tide turned in the early stages of Round 2 when Rohskopf's gas tank quickly emptied, and Hubbard was able to land repeated, unanswered combinations. Hubbard was in firm control of the fight when Rohskopf decided he could no longer continue at the end of the second frame. "Thud" has now alternated wins and losses in his first four UFC bouts.
