Out of Sanchez fight
December 23, 2020
Muniz will no longer fight Andrew Sanchez at UFC 257 on Jan. 23, Marcel Dorff of reports.

Draws Andrew Sanchez at UFC 257
November 18, 2020
Muniz will take on Andrew Sanchez in a middleweight matchup at UFC 257 on Jan. 23, Marcelo Barone of Globo Esporte reports.
Muniz is a perfect 4-0 in the UFC, and will now get a slight step up in competition against a fighter in Sanchez who has won three of his last four. Muniz will enter with a four-inch reach advantage, but isn't known as a high-volume striker. He instead focuses on grappling, taking down his opponent 2.61 times per 15 minutes of fight time and attempting 2.2 submissions over that same span. Sanchez, however, has yet to be taken down in eight UFC fights. Sanchez also sports double the rate of significant strikes landed per minute as that of Muniz. Where this fight ultimately takes place will effectively be key to its outcome.
Notches slick submission victory
September 5, 2020
Muniz defeated Bartosz Fabinski via submission (armbar) at 2:42 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
This dynamic always seemed to favor Muniz as a high-level submission specialist against a control grappler, and that played out to a tee early in the first round, when Muniz slapped on the armbar from guard after Fabinski landed an initial takedown. Muniz has powerful strikes on the feet but will always prefer to fight on the ground, as 13 of his now 20 wins have come via tap out. This may put a cap on his ceiling going forward but shouldn't preclude him from getting into the top 10, particularly if he can develop his power striking game. Muniz's record moves to 20-4 in professional MMA as a result of the victory.
Taking on Fabinski in September
July 20, 2020
Muniz will fight Bartosz Fabinski in a middlweight matchup on September 5, Marcelo Barone of Combate reports.
The fight does not yet have an announced location. Muniz last was in the Octagon back in November when he defeated Antonio Arroyo by unanimous decision in his debut. Fabinski started off his career 3-0 but took a loss to Michel Prazeres in his last fight, which happened all the way back in November of 2018. Muniz will enter this matchup an inch taller with a three-inch reach advantage.
Earns win in Sao Paulo
November 16, 2019
Muniz defeated Antonio Arroyo via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Facing a fellow product of Dana White's Contender Series, Muniz cruised to a unanimous decision win despite accepting this bout on less than a month's notice. Muniz had it all working on Saturday. He scored on three of his seven takedown attempts while racking up a 85-47 edge in total strikes landed. Muniz finished the bout particularly strong with a dominant Round 3. The 29-year-old left no doubt who the better man was on this night in a fight which was viewed as extremely evenly matched entering the night.
