Submission win in 80 seconds
June 6, 2020
Burns defeated Evan Dunham via submission (rear-naked choke) at 1:20 of Round 1 at UFC 250 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
It's the second dominant performance from a member of the Burns family in a week. After his older brother Gilbert rolled over Tyron Woodley in a main event spot seven days ago, Herbert went out and dispatched a helplessly overmatched Dunham in less than 90 seconds Saturday. We will have to see how Burns looks once he starts going up against some better competition, but he has now stopped his first two UFC opponents (Dunham, Nate Landwehr) in a combined 4:03. There may very well be some serious future potential here.

Burns made his UFC debut at UFC Raleigh in late January and took down Nate Landwehr via KO (knee) at 2:43 of Round 1. Dunham came out of retirement to fight Michael Johnson in late April at UFC Lincoln, but Johnson was moved to a different event and the Lincoln card was canceled due to the pandemic.
Starts off Raleigh with POTN effort
January 26, 2020
Burns defeated Nate Landwehr via KO (knee) at 2:43 of Round 1 at UFC Raleigh on Saturday.
Burns landed right out of the gates and proceeded to get a takedown and hunt for a submission. He moved to full mount but was pushed off in a scramble before the two got back to their feet. Burns absorbed a shoulder strike that ended up creating separation between the two, but proceeded to land a hard knee in response to a Landwehr uppercut. The knee shut out the lights on Landwehr and the fight was all over. It was a thrilling debut for the 31-year-old featherweight, and Burns will walk away with a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus for his efforts.

Burns defeated Darrick Minner via submission (triangle ambar) at the Contender Series, and carries a record of 9-2 as a professional fighter. He has competed in both One FC and Titan FC, and will face Landwehr, who is making his UFC debut with a 13-2 record as a professional fighter. Landwehr is currently carrying a seven-fight winning streak that includes four knockouts.
Joins brother in the UFC
August 7, 2019
Burns defeated Darrick Minner via submission (triangle armbar) at 2:29 of Round 1 at Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series. He was one of three fighters to be awarded a UFC contract following the event.
Burns already begins his tenure with the company with some degree of name recognition, as he's the younger brother of now-welterweight fighter Gilbert Burns, who has fought 11 times under the UFC banner since 2014. Herbert entered this fight as high as a (-670) betting favorite, and ultimately looking the part, putting away an overmatched opponent in the first round. Burns did eat a couple of heavy shots in some of the exchanges, but Minner's fearlessness in going to the mat with an experienced grappling artist proved to be his downfall. A former competitor in both One FC and Titan FC, Burns will enter the UFC with a 9-2 record, with seven of those wins coming by way of submission.
