Bill Algeo
Senor Perfecto

USA
Second straight knockout loss
Algeo lost to Doo Ho Choi via TKO (punches) at 3:38 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It has all fallen apart on Algeo in a span of less than fourth months. Never before knocked out in his long pro career, Algeo was stopped via strikes by Kyle Nelson in late-March in Atlantic City. He suffered a similar fate here against Choi. Algeo tried to get his wrestling game going early, but all that did was put him in position to fight off multiple deep submission attempts. With the fight seemingly up for grabs midway through Round 2, Algeo ate a huge punch which appeared to damage his right eye. Choi targeted the same area moments later and Algeo crumbled for good. Bill won four of five from January 2022 to October 2023, but these back-to-back lopsided defeats would appear to be nearly impossible for the 35-year-old Pennsylvania native to overcome.

Gets Korean Superboy in July
Algeo will take on Doo Ho Choi in a featherweight matchup at UFC Vegas 94 on July 20, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Algeo has been hit-or-miss during his time in the UFC, as he has a 18-8 record overall but is just 5-4 with the company. He's looking to rebound from a first-round TKO loss to Kyle Nelson in March and will do so against an opponent in Choi who hasn't competed since fighting the same opponent (Nelson) to a majority draw in February of 2023. Algeo will have the edge in both striking volume and defense, while neither fighter has much of a wrestling game to speak of.

First career knockout loss
Algeo lost to Kyle Nelson via TKO (punches) at 4:00 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Atlantic City.
ANALYSIS
Not good. Entering as a -300 favorite, second-largest on the entire card, Algeo's striking defense was MIA for this one. Nelson isn't known as a power puncher, but Algeo was completely unable to handle everything that was sent back his way. Bill remained on his feet the entire time, but referee Gary Copeland finally (and correctly) pulled the plug with a minute left to go in the opening frame. The result was all the more shocking given the fact Algeo didn't have a single knockout defeat on his resume in his prior 25 professional fights entering the evening.

On Atlantic City card
Algeo is scheduled to compete against Kyle Nelson in a featherweight fight at UFC Atlantic City on March 30, per Nolan King of USA Today.
ANALYSIS
Algeo, 4-1 across his last five fights, will take on a fellow rising featherweight. After entering 2023 on a cold streak, Nelson went 2-0-1 that year, with upset wins over Blake Bilder and Fernando Padilla.

Improves to 4-1 in past five fights
Algeo defeated Alexander Hernandez via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It was an impressive, complete performance from Algeo. In control from start to finish, Bill used his massive length advantage to pick Hernandez apart at distance. Alex simply couldn't close the distance between the two with any sort of consistency, allowing the longer Algeo to dominate. The total strike count was 119-76 in Algeo's favor, but it felt more lopsided because he attempted 100 more (257-157) strikes than Hernandez. "Senor Perfecto" has won four of five dating back to January 2022.

Scheduled to fight Hernandez
Algeo will fight Alexander Hernandez in a featherweight bout at UFC Vegas 80 on Oct. 7, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
This fight will be between two featherweights trying to establish some better consistency with their results. Algeo has a 4-3 UFC record, while Hernandez is 6-5, 1-1 at featherweight.
