Falls as biggest favorite on card
August 28, 2021
Muradov lost to Gerald Meerschaert via submission (rear-naked choke) at 1:49 of Round 2 at UFC on ESPN 30 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
What a disaster. Entering as the biggest favorite on the card at -575, Muradov was unable to close the show in Round 1 before tapping out in Round 2. It started well for Muradov, as he rocked Meerschaert early with plenty of power shots and multiple combinations, but his energy level clearly dipped as the fight progressed, leaving his experienced opponent the opening to earn the submission victory. Muradov has about as much knockout power as any middleweight on the UFC roster, but his submission defense is a major, major concern. Four of his six career defeats have come via that method, giving his opponents an area to try to exploit despite Muradov's immense physical gifts. He falls to 3-1 in the UFC.
To fight Meerschaert
May 8, 2021
Muradov is scheduled to take on Gerald Meerschaert in a UFC event on Aug. 28, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
Muradov will put his perfect UFC record on the line in this one. He is coming off a victory over Andrew Sanchez via TKO. He will likely need to avoid been taken down at all costs in this upcoming bout, as Meerschaert has accumulated six career victories via submission, which is a UFC middleweight record.
Remains perfect in UFC
January 23, 2021
Muradov defeated Andrew Sanchez via TKO (punches) at 2:59 of Round 3 at UFC 257 on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
Muradov is a notoriously slow starter who improves considerably as the fight progresses, and this bout was no different. Muradov clearly won all three rounds, but the second and third were considerably better for him than the first. Muradov has fight-ending power, but he is perfectly capable of stringing together stinging combinations when necessary. The only concern surrounding Muradov three fights into his UFC run is the fact he's never fought anyone of note. That's going to change in the very near future, but Saturday's win over Sanchez was the biggest of Muradov's career up to this point. It also earned him a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus. It will be fascinating to see how the soon-to-be 31-year-old performs when the opposition level standing across the Octagon from him rises. It's coming.

Withdraws from Saturday fight
October 29, 2020
Muradov is out of Saturday's scheduled matchup against Kevin Holland, reports.
No reason was given for Muradov's withdrawal, but the writing was on the wall when both he and Holland failed to appear in a scheduled media day appearance Wednesday. Holland will remain on the card, taking on short-notice replacement Charlie Ontiveros.
