Out with injury
Lingo withdrew from his upcoming fight against Jonathan Pearce with an undisclosed injury Tuesday, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear when Lingo will be able to return to the Octagon. The fight was supposed to take place Feb. 19, so there isn't much time for a replacement to be found, but that appears to be the UFC's plan.

Set to take on Pearce
Lingo will take on Jonathan Pearce in a presumed featherweight matchup at the UFC event scheduled for Feb. 19, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
ANALYSIS
Lingo has picked up back-to-back victories on the basis of his striking, though each have gone to the judges. The 27-year-old racked up three KO/TKO victories while under the banner of LFA, but so far that power hasn't translated to the UFC. He now draws an opponent in Pearce who has seen all three of his UFC bouts -- plus a DWCS contest -- end via stoppage. The all-action Pearce will have slight height and reach advantages, in addition to statistical advantages in striking and wrestling volume, albeit over a relatively small sample size.

Picks up second straight victory
Lingo defeated Luis Saldana via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC on ESPN 29 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
The fight was a pick 'em on paper and was up for grabs entering the final round before Lingo began to pull away. He started slowly. Saldana was the more effective striker in Round 1, but Lingo slowly began to find his range despite connecting on a worse percentage of strikes than his opponent in each of the three frames. Saldana entered with more stopping power than Lingo, so the latter should consider himself fortunate he was able to emerge victorious despite relatively even numbers in the stand-up. Lingo dropped his UFC debut to Youssef Zalal back in February 2020 -- the only defeat of his pro career -- but has since gone on to take unanimous decisions from both Saldana and Jacob Kilburn in the span of just over seven months.

Added to Aug. 21 card
Lingo will take on Luis Saldana in a featherweight matchup at UFC Fight Night on Aug. 21, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lingo picked up his first UFC victory in January when he defeated Jacob Kilburn via unanimous decision at UFC on ABC 1. Saldana made his UFC debut in April and defeated Jordan Griffin via unanimous decision at UFC on ABC 2. Saldana has slight advantages in height and reach.

Records first UFC victory
Lingo defeated Jacob Kilburn via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-27) at UFC on ABC 1 on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
ANALYSIS
In a bout between two fighters who were dominated in their company debuts, Lingo easily emerged victorious. Blessed with a clear edge in both hand and foot speed, Lingo connected on 95 significant strikes compared to just 64 from Kilburn. Perhaps the most impressive aspect of the bout was Lingo's takedown defense, as he managed to shutdown 17-of-18 Kilburn attempts. There isn't much to see here in terms of either man, but this strong effort should ensure Lingo gets a third fight with the company.
