Medic lost to Jalin Turner via submission (rear-naked choke) at 4:01 of Round 1 at UFC 266 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Medic entered the night with a perfect 7-0 record, with all seven wins coming via stoppage. Facing one of the few lightweights in the world taller than he is, Medic ate a combination from Turner that forced him to his knees. Turner quickly took his back and it was academic from there. We've seen Medic for less than six minutes over the course of his first two UFC bouts, but his defense -- particularly tonight -- has been concerning. The power is legitimate, but Medic is going to have to prove he can hold up defensively if those power strikes aren't landing early in a fight. He wasn't able to do so on Saturday.
Taking on Jalin Turner next

Medic has agreed to face Jalin Turner in a lightweight match at the UFC's event scheduled for September 25, BJPenn.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Medic logged an impressive win over Aalon Cruz in his UFC debut back in March, maintaining his perfect 7-0-0 professional record. He's proven to be a legit fighter, but Turner has also put together an impressive young career, and he represents a higher level of competition than Medic has seen in the past. Notably, Medic will be at a three-inch disadvantage in terms of height and a five-inch disadvantage in terms of reach.
Flawless performance in UFC debut

Medic defeated Aalon Cruz via TKO (punches) at 1:40 of Round 1 at UFC 259 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Going back to his victory over Mikey Gonzalez on Dana White's Contender Series in August 2020, Medic has been inside the Octagon for 3:52. In that time period, he has landed 87 total strikes and been hit just twice. Credit to Michael Carroll of UFC stats for that mind numbing number. Medic's official company debut could not have gone much better. The numbers on Saturday would have appeared slightly less lopsided had referee Mark Smith done his job and stopped this fight when Cruz was clearly finished, but that doesn't take away from the dominance of Medic. We'll have to see how Medic looks against better competition, but the power is legit and his ceiling appears to be very high. He'll also walk away with a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus after this one. Keep an eye on him.

Medic is scheduled to for a lightweight fight against Aalon Cruz at UFC 259 on March 6, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Medic earned a UFC contract back in August after defeating Mikey Gonzalez via TKO (strikes) at Dana White's Contender Series in Las Vegas. He'll make his debut against Cruz, who hasn't fought since February 2020. Cruz has only fought once at the UFC level, losing via TKO (punches) to Spike Carlyle.
Gets contract after first-round TKO

Medic defeated Mikey Gonzalez via TKO (strikes) at 2:12 of Round 1 at Dana White's Contender Series on Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was one of three fighters awarded a UFC contract after the show.
ANALYSIS
Granted, Medic did what he was supposed to do as a betting favorite against a fighter coming in on short notice, but he certainly did it in impressive fashion. The Serbian-born fighter handled the unorthodox striking of Gonzalez and did his best work on the feet with body kicks. One particularly brutal kick that echoed through the arena crumbled Gonzalez, and Medic pounced for the finish. Medic now has six pro fights under his belt -- five under the banner of Alaska Fighting Championship -- and has a 100 percent finishing rate, with all of those stoppages coming within the first two rounds. The 27-year-old will be a tough draw for any lightweights on the UFC roster.
