Gets contract despite decision
De Paula defeated Pauline Macias via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 29-28) at Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series. After the show, she was one of four fighters to be awarded an official UFC contract.
ANALYSIS
This was a fight de Paula was expected to win, as she entered as a (-260) betting favorite, had size advantages and was going up against an opponent without a victory over a fighter with a winning record. While de Paula didn't get the finish due to the tremendous chin of Macias, she still dominated this one from bell to bell. The times she was taken down didn't last long, and she was able to fire off a bit of offensive wrestling of her own. De Paula was successful with her striking both at a distance and in the clinch, techniques evident of her Chute Boxing training. At just 25 years old, there's plenty of time for the Brazilian to grow into her own in the strawweight division.
