Dominates in UFC debut
September 18, 2021
Blanchfield defeated Sarah Alpar via unanimous decision (30-25, 30-25, 30-26) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
Blanchfield's UFC debut was a walk in the park. In complete control from bell-to-bell, Blanchfield landed 198 total strikes, compared to just 45 from Alpar. She also connected on all three of her takedown attempts in addition to piling up 9:43 worth of control time. They are stunning numbers for a 15-minute bout and serve to emphasize just how dominant Blanchfield looked. A win over Alpar means little in the long run, but everything in Blanchfield's background suggests she's a high-level prospect. Just 22 years of age, Blanchfield's lone professional defeat came via split decision against fellow UFC fighter Tracy Cortez back in their Invicta days in early 2019.

Blanchfield will not be fighting at UFC Vegas 23 on Saturday after the Nevada Athletic Commission removed the fight since her opponent, Norma Dumont, was 3.5 pounds overweight, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
Blanchfield just signed with the UFC last week and was ready to step in on short notice to fight Dumont after her initial opponent had to withdraw from the fight. Dumont has 3.5 pounds overweight for her second straight weigh-in. The first time she was forced to forfeit 30 percent of her purse, but now the Nevada Athletic Commission is scrapping the fight altogether. Blanchfield's team was still willing to go on with the fight but will now have to wait to make her UFC debut which could now likely come at some point over the summer.
