Pulls upset in UFC debut
Wiklacz defeated Patchy Mix via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC 320 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
The former KSW Bantamweight Champion, Wiklacz had his moments as a big (+275) underdog in his UFC debut. Of course, the vast majority of people that watched this fight would likely have scored it for Mix. Wiklacz struggled with the grappling game of Patchy, allowing five takedowns. His go-to move was to jump on a guillotine choke. Wiklacz also won the total strike battle by a 46-37 count, although neither man could pull ahead on the feet. It was a competent showing for the 29-year-old in a big step up in competition, but Wiklacz's long-term ceiling figures to be severely hampered by his lack of power. He doesn't have a knockout win in his professional career.
