Jessica Eye

Slated for UFC 245
August 12, 2019
Eye (undisclosed) will square off against Viviane Araujo at UFC 245 on Dec. 14, Guilherme Cruz of reports.
Eye received a six-month suspension in June after sustaining an undisclosed injury against Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 238, but she's apparently been cleared to return to the octagon. After falling short in her big for a title belt, Eye looks to bounce back against a relative newcomer in Araujo. Eye has landed and absorbed many fewer strikes than her opponent and Araujo has also successfully completed all five of her takedown attempts. However, Araujo hasn't faced an opponent at the current skill level of Eye, so it should be an interesting match.

Receives four-month suspension
June 17, 2019
Eye received a 120-day medical suspension after sustaining an unspecified injury in her loss to Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 238 on June 8, Steven Marrocco of reports.
Though the report doesn't detail the nature of Eye's health concern, she'll be subject to 90 days of no contact and will require a CT scan and a physician's clearance before the UFC lifts the ban. The 32-year-old dropped to 14-7 (1NC) after taking a second-round knockout loss to Shevchenko in the flyweight title fight.
Comes up short in title challenge
June 8, 2019
Eye lost to Valentina Shevchenko via KO (head kick) at 0:26 of Round 2 at UFC 238 on Saturday in Chicago.
Eye was a huge underdog in this fight, and she did not get to show anything before being stopped. In the first round, Shevchenko scored a takedown and nearly finished via submission from the top. In the second, the champion decided to fight at distance. She unleashed a huge head kick. Eye was out before she hit the ground. The flyweight division is very shallow, so Eye might fight her way to another title shot. However, this was very decisive.
Granted shot at flyweight title
March 11, 2019
Eye will challenge Valentina Shevchenko for the flyweight title at UFC 238 on June 8.
Five years into her career, Eye has the chance to challenge for the title when she meets with Shevchenko in Chicago. Eye is coming off a bout in which she barely squeezed by Katlyn Chookagian via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC 231, but she was still granted her request for a chance at the title. Shevchenko is coming in off a victory over Joanna Jedrzejczyk and should enter UFC 238 as the clear favorite over Eye.
Barely sneaks by Katyln Chookagian at UFC 231
December 8, 2018
Eye defeated Katlyn Chookagian via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC 231 on Saturday in Toronto.
Apparently Eye feels that another mediocre performance that she might not have even deserved to win is grounds for a shot at the winner of tonight's UFC Women's Flyweight Championship fight between Valentina Shevchenko and Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Nearly five years into her UFC career, Eye has barely improved. She's tough and does a nice job of pushing forward, but she's a one-dimensional boxer with zero (she doesn't have a single career win via knockout) stopping power. Eye would find herself as a monumental underdog if the company (foolishly) grants her request for a title shot.
Matched against Katlyn Chookagian
October 12, 2018
Eye will face Katlyn Chookagian at UFC 231 in Toronto on Dec. 8, Ariel Helwani of ESPN reports.
Eye has followed up a four-match losing streak with a pair of victories, beating Kalindra Faria by split decision in January and Jessica-Rose Clark by unanimous decision in June. Her opponent, Chookagian, who stands three inches taller at 5-foot-9, has lost just once in 12 fights in her professional career, most recently defeating Alexis Davis by unanimous decision in July.
