Draws Maia in July
March 24, 2021
Eye is being targeted for a fight with Jennifer Maia at the UFC event scheduled for July 10, reports.
Eye bounced back from a lopsided loss to Valentina Shevchenko with a victory over Viviane Araujo, but has since dropped back-to-back bouts to Cynthia Calvillo and Joanne Calderwood. She likely needs a victory against Maia to stay relevant in the division, as Maia is coming off a Shevchenko fight as well, though she managed to take her all five rounds. The biggest knock on Eye is her lack of finishing ability, as outside of the Shevchenko fight, her other 10 fights dating back to 2015 have gone to the judges. She does have slightly higher striking volume than Maia on paper, however, in addition to two-inch advantages in both height and reach.

Not competitive again in prime spot
January 23, 2021
Eye lost to Joanne Calderwood via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 28-29) at UFC 257 on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
It's a step in the right direction for Eye because she missed weight after missing in her previous two bouts, but the end result was her third defeat in her past four fights. In what was essentially a 15-minute kickboxing match, Eye looked reasonably strong in the clinch and in the exchanges along the fence. When the two women separated, she was done. It was an identical effort from what we have seen from Eye countless other times during her seven-plus years with the company. She's tough and gritty with extremely limited technical skill. While the UFC continues to give Eye big fights, the truth if the matter is that she has made virtually no improvements over the past many years. Now 34 years of age and sporting a 5-8 career record with the company, the days of Eye being any sort of title threat in any division have come and gone.
Takes on Calderwood on Jan. 23
October 17, 2020
Eye will battle Joanne Calderwood in a flyweight matchup at UFC 257 on Jan. 23, MMA DNA reports.
Eye will be entering the ring most recently losing to Cynthia Calvillo via unanimous decision in June, while Calderwood is coming off a loss as well to Jennifer Maia via submission (armbar) on Aug. 1 in Las Vegas. The two will physically match up almost identically, but Eye will be giving up major statistical edges in both striking and grappling. Oddsmakers list her as a slight betting underdog of (+100) as of early-January.
Loses after missing weight
June 13, 2020
Eye lost to Cynthia Calvillo via unanimous decision (46-49, 46-49, 47-48) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
Eye continues to get notable fights, but the eye test simply doesn't match Eye's position on the card. She did fine in Round 1 when the two women spent the entire frame on the feet, but she was controlled on the mat for a significant amount of time in each of the next three rounds. Eye hasn't improved since entering the company in October 2013. She is a one-dimensional brawler who doesn't possess the power to fight that way. The only notable victory in her UFC career is against Katlyn Chookagian, and that was a split decision that could have very easily gone the other way. Oh, Eye also missed weight on Friday. While on paper she only missed by 0.25 pounds, Calvillo accused Eye in the post-fight press conference of leaning on the towel to cover up what could have been an even bigger miss. Eye is plenty tough, but there just isn't much else to here to get excited about. The soon-to-be 34-year-old Ohio native is now 5-7 (1NC) in 13 UFC bouts.
Forfeiting 25 percent of purse
June 12, 2020
Eye's headlining bout versus Cynthia Calvillo on Saturday at UFC Las Vegas 2 will go on as scheduled, but she will forfeit 25 percent of her purse to Calvillo, Jose Youngs of reports.
Eye tipped the scales just 0.25 pounds over the required weight but indicated after doing so that she would not be able to shave off any more. The miss will cost her financially and could have implications on the future, as it marks her second straight where she didn't make the cut.
Misses weight for headlining bout
June 12, 2020
Eye weighed in .25 pounds over the 126-pound limit for Saturday's UFC Las Vegas 2 fight versus Cynthia Calvillo, Damon Martin of reports.
While Eye will lose part of her purse for Saturday's contest, it would seem unlikely Calvillo would decline the bout given the minuscule miss from Eye. However, this is the second consecutive fight Eye has failed to make it to 126, which could have ramifications for her scheduling of future bouts.
