Suffers non-competitive loss
February 22, 2020
Kowalkiewicz lost to Yan Xiaonan via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night 168 in Auckland, New Zealand on Saturday.
Kowalkiewicz deserves credit for hearing the final bell, but it was clear very early on that she was not in a good situation, as Xiaonan landed hammers throughout the course of the fight. Since bursting into the organization as someone who would just come forward and through strikes, the Polish fighter seems to have hit a wall, having lost four consecutive bouts. This puts her future with the company in considerable jeopardy. She falls to 12-6 in professional MMA as a result of the loss.
Added to Auckland card
December 8, 2019
Kowalkiewicz will face Yan Xiaonan at UFC Auckland on Feb. 22, MMAJunkie.com reports.
Kowalkiewicz has a 5-5 record with the UFC, but she's been having a rough time recently, losing her last three matches. She hasn't won since April of 2018. Her opponent, Xiaonan, has won all four of her UFC matches.
Struggles to keep pace
June 8, 2019
Kowalkiewicz lost to Alex Grasso via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC 238 on Saturday in Chicago.
Kowalkiewicz really struggled in this fight. Grasso had the advantage in terms of movement and tempo. Kowalkiewicz would throw a hard strike, and Grasso would counter with three or more strikes. That was the story of the entire fight. Since challenging for the UFC women's strawweight title in 2016, Kowalkiewicz has gone 2-4, and she is currently riding a three-fight losing streak.
Pinned against Alexa Grasso in June
April 9, 2019
Kowalkiewicz has been booked to fight Alexa Grasso in a strawweight bout at UFC 238 in Chicago on June 8.
Kowalkiewicz challenged for the strawweight title back in 2016, but it's been a tough go for the Polish fighter since then, as she has lost four of her last six fights. She is currently riding a two-fight losing streak and most recently fell to Michelle Waterson via unanimous decision at UFC on ESPN 2 a couple weeks ago. She's now wasting anytime in booking her next fight, however, and her opponent, Grasso, is one of the more promising young prospects in the UFC at just 25 years old.
Can't find range in loss to Michelle Waterson
March 30, 2019
Kowalkiewicz lost to Michelle Waterson via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC on ESPN 2 on Saturday in Philadelphia.
A striker by trade, Kowalkiewicz really struggled to put together any combinations against a surprisingly elusive Waterson. Unofficially, Karolina attempted 54 less strikes than Waterson (348 to 294) and she landed 64 less strikes (174 to 114). In addition to her difficulties on the feet, Karolina allowed Waterson to land four takedown attempts. It was a concerning effort against an undersized opponent. Kowalkiewicz has lost back-to-back fights.
