Karolina Kowalkiewicz

Struggles to keep pace
June 8, 2019
Kowalkiewicz lost to Alex Grasso via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC 238 on Saturday in Chicago.
Kowalkiewicz really struggled in this fight. Grasso had the advantage in terms of movement and tempo. Kowalkiewicz would throw a hard strike, and Grasso would counter with three or more strikes. That was the story of the entire fight. Since challenging for the UFC women's strawweight title in 2016, Kowalkiewicz has gone 2-4, and she is currently riding a three-fight losing streak.

Pinned against Alexa Grasso in June
April 9, 2019
Kowalkiewicz has been booked to fight Alexa Grasso in a strawweight bout at UFC 238 in Chicago on June 8.
Kowalkiewicz challenged for the strawweight title back in 2016, but it's been a tough go for the Polish fighter since then, as she has lost four of her last six fights. She is currently riding a two-fight losing streak and most recently fell to Michelle Waterson via unanimous decision at UFC on ESPN 2 a couple weeks ago. She's now wasting anytime in booking her next fight, however, and her opponent, Grasso, is one of the more promising young prospects in the UFC at just 25 years old.
Can't find range in loss to Michelle Waterson
March 30, 2019
Kowalkiewicz lost to Michelle Waterson via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC on ESPN 2 on Saturday in Philadelphia.
A striker by trade, Kowalkiewicz really struggled to put together any combinations against a surprisingly elusive Waterson. Unofficially, Karolina attempted 54 less strikes than Waterson (348 to 294) and she landed 64 less strikes (174 to 114). In addition to her difficulties on the feet, Karolina allowed Waterson to land four takedown attempts. It was a concerning effort against an undersized opponent. Kowalkiewicz has lost back-to-back fights.

Kowalkiewicz will take on Michelle Waterson in a strawweight bout at UFC Philadelphia on March 30, MMAFighting.com reports.
Kowalkiewicz won her first 10 professional matches but has been in a slump over her last five, winning just two and falling twice in the first round. In her most recent fight, she was knocked out after just 1:58 by Jessica Andrade at UFC 228 in September. She'll face an opponent in Waterson who is riding a two-fight win streak, with decision victories over Cortney Casey-Sanchez and Felice Herrig.
Falls in the first round in the co-main event of UFC 228
September 8, 2018
Kowalkiewicz lost to Jessica Andrade via knockout (punch) at 1:58 of Round 1 at UFC 228 on Saturday in Dallas.
Unfortunately for Kowalkiewicz, this fight was all about Andrade. The Brazilian came out looking to land strikes from the opening bell. She rushed in with a combination and hurt Kowalkiewicz early. The Polish fighter got her wits back and went to her striking. However, Andrade continued to come forward with wild shots. About two minutes into the round, she landed a combination that dropped Kowalkiewicz and finished the fight.
To face Jessica Andrade in September
July 18, 2018
Kowalkiewicz will take on Jessica Andrade at UFC 228 on September 8 in Dallas, Alexander K. Lee of MMAFighting.com reports.
Kowalkiewicz is coming off a pair of victories over Jodie Esquibel (unanimous decision) and Felice Herrig (split decision) and will look to continue this momentum against Andrade. Following her win over Herrig, Kowalkiewicz improved her professional record to 12-2, and inches closer to a shot at current 115-pound champion Rose Namajunas. With regards to Andrade, Kowalkiewicz will have the slight advantage in striking defense, but the striking offense and grappling numbers lead heavily towards Andrade, who is also the younger fighter. Kowalkiewicz enters with two-inch advantages in both height and reach, however.
