It's been a rather odd week for Askar. He stepped in on very short notice last Tuesday to accept a fight against Cody Stamann for his UFC debut but wound up failing to receive medical clearance. He's now been dropped by the promotion entirely without ever setting foot into the Octagon. He'll aim to re-sign with the UFC or elsewhere once he's healthy again.

Askar will not end up fighting Cody Stamann at UFC Vegas 18 on Saturday night after he was not medically cleared to compete ahead of the bout, Damon Martin of MMAFighting.com reports.

Now Askar is unable to fight so the UFC has decided to entirely pull the fight from Saturday's card. It would've been the 33-year-old's debut in the UFC as he'll now have to wait for another opportunity to arise sometime down the road.
