Jesus Aguilar

Mexico

Improves to 4-1 in past five fights
FlyweightUFC
September 13, 2025
Aguilar defeated Luis Gurule via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Noche on Saturday in San Antonio.
ANALYSIS
This fight was very close and nowhere near as lopsided as some of the striking numbers would lead you to believe. Aguilar closed with an 85-65 edge in total strikes landed, but the entirety of that gap came in Round 1. Gurule was the better man in Rounds 2 and 3, but Aguilar was able to string together a few huge shots late in order to swing the decision in his favor. They've all come against lower-end competition, but Aguilar is now sporting a 4-1 record in his last five fights dating back to July 2023 and his roster spot is plenty secure.

Winning streak snapped at three

Aguilar lost to Rafael Estevam via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
When we last saw Aguilar last August, he was missing weight prior to earning a first-round submission win over Stewart Nicoll. He had no problems with the scale this evening, but his complete inability to defend a takedown was his ultimate undoing. Aguilar allowed Estevam to connect on 11-of-19 takedown attempts, good for 9:22 worth of control time. Jesus did a nice job of defending from a compromising position, but he simply didn't generate enough offense to potentially pull the upset. Aguilar sees a three-fight winning streak snapped in the process.

Aguilar will face Rafael Estevam in a flyweight bout at UFC Vegas 102 on Feb. 15, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Aguilar is red hot, having won three straight fights after dropping his opening UFC bout. His most recent victim was Stewart Nicoll, whom he bested via Guillotine. His opponent Esteveam, meanwhile, is coming off a win in his first ever UFC fight.
Submission win after weight miss

August 17, 2024
Aguilar defeated Stewart Nicoll via technical submission (guillotine choke) at 2:39 of Round 1 at UFC 305 on Saturday in Perth, Australia.
ANALYSIS
Aguilar did an excellent job here of picking up an upset win against a debuting prospect in Nicoll who many people think highly of. Unfortunately, much of that good work was negated by the fact he missed weight by a pound and a half Friday. Aguilar struggled with the physicality of Nicoll early on, but the latter got over aggressive and left his neck exposed, and Jesus took full advantage. Aguilar has now racked up three straight wins, including two via stoppage, on the heels of his predictable setback against Tatsuro Taira in his UFC debut back in February 2023.

ANALYSIS
Aguilar will get his fourth UFC matchup, coming off his second straight win against Mateus Mendonca via split decision. The Mexican flyweight enters this fight with a 2-1 record in the UFC taking on Nicoll, who will make his UFC debut and holds an 8-0 professional fighting record.
