Still searching for first UFC win
FlyweightUFC
September 13, 2025
Gurule lost to Jesus Aguilar via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Noche on Saturday in San Antonio.
ANALYSIS
Entering as a -185 favorite, it took Gurule more than a round to find his range. Once he did, he was clearly the better fighter through the middle part of the bout. Yet, with the decision hanging in the balance in the final moments, Gurule ate a couple huge blows which ensured Aguilar would win Round 3 -- and the fight -- as a result. The 31-year-old Colorado native had plenty of success on the regional scene prior to his UFC arrival in April, but he's now lost each of his first two official fights with the company and will likely need a win his next time out in order to save his job.

Gurule is scheduled to compete against fellow flyweight Jesus Aguilar at Noche UFC in San Antonio on Sept. 13, per Nolan King of MMA Junkie.
ANALYSIS

Finished in UFC debut

Gurule lost to Ode Osbourne via TKO (punches) at 1:54 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Entering as a -220 favorite for your UFC debut and being knocked out by a guy that entered the evening with a 4-6 career mark with the company is a bad look for Gurule. To be fair, he won Round 1 on all three scorecards on the strength of a takedown and 2:17 worth of control time, but Osbourne clipped him with a left hand which sent Gurule crumbling to the mat and forced referee Jason Herzog to eventually intervene. Many were high on the Colorado native being a potential notable addition to the flyweight division, but this performance suggests otherwise.

Gurule will fight Ode Osbourne at UFC Vegas 105 on April 5, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Gurule has booked his next fight as he will take on Osbourne with the hopes of keeping his undefeated record alive. The newcomer has a significant disadvantage in both height and reach, however that has yet to stop him before. Osbourne has lost his last three fights and has not won since February of 2023.

Gurule defeated Nick Piccininni via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series. After the show, he was one of four fighters to be awarded an official UFC contract.
ANALYSIS
This is the classic case of the judges having to decide whether to value striking or grappling, and in this one, striking won out. Gurule was credited with the edge in strikes deemed "significant" in all three rounds (although Round 3 was tight), while Piccininni fired off an astonishing 20 takedowns over the course of the fight, landing 10 of them. In Round 3, it was Gurule that preferred to engage on the feet and even pointed to the mat, to which Piccininni responded with another takedown attempt. Given the respective styles, and the fact that finishing weights are lower in the lower weight classes, it makes more sense to see why White would award a contract to a 30-year-old who wasn't necessarily dominant in his big opportunity.
