Jimmy Crute
The Brute

Australia
Second straight submission win
Crute defeated Ivan Erslan via submission (rear-naked choke) at 3:33 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Perth, Australia.
ANALYSIS
Crute has never been the most trustworthy guy in the Octagon, so it was nice to see him get a guy like Erslan, who entered without a win with the company, out of there in Round 1. Jimmy was his usual aggressive self. He found himself in a compromising position on the mat, only to sweep Erslan and end up in mount in a blink of an eye. The fight was essentially over at that point, and the finish would go on to earn him one of four $50,000 Performance of the Night bonuses awarded on the evening. Crute has looked really good his last two times out, but he still has just two victories dating back to October 2020. He should be trying to get back in the Octagon as quickly as possible considering he absorbed no damage this evening.

Quick turnaround for next fight
Crute is scheduled to compete against Ivan Erslan in a light heavyweight fight at UFC Perth on Sept. 27, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Back in mid-July, Crute submitted Marcin Prachnio, securing the former's first win since October 2020. He is looking for back-to-back wins by defeating Erslan, still searching for his first UFC victory.

First win since October 2020
Crute defeated Marcin Prachnio via submission (armbar) at 4:42 of Round 1 at UFC 318 on Saturday in New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
Entering without a win since October 2020, a span of five fights, Crute came through with ease as north of a -300 favorite. Not wanting to mess around with the power of Prachnio, Jimmy went to his wrestling game over and over, landing 3-of-6 takedown attempts. Crute has always displayed questionable cardio, so it's a good thing he was able to get Prachnio out of there before too long. Still just 29 years old, Crute should still has some gas left in the tank if he wants to try to make another run. Remember, Crute has dealt with injuries in the past and has already essentially decided to retire once.

Next fight booked
Crute will take on Marcin Prachnio in a light heavyweight bout at UFC 318 on July 19, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Crute is in desperate need of a win. He's now winless in his last five outings, most recently drawing against Rodolfo Bellato back in February. His last win came back in 2020, and his UFC record now sits at 4-4. His opponent, meanwhile, also needs a win and sits at 4-6 in the promotion.

Winless streak hits five
Crute and Rodolfo Bellato fought to a majority draw (29-27, 28-28, 28-28) at UFC 312 on Saturday in Sydney, Australia.
ANALYSIS
When we last saw Crute in July 2023, he was getting submitted by Alonzo Menifield, his fourth straight fight without a win (0-3-1). He softly retired afterwards before deciding to return here. He came out like a house of fire, dominating Bellato in Round 1 to the tune of a 10-8 mark on all three scorecards. Yet, it was essentially all downhill from there. Crute appeared exhausted over the course of the final two rounds, and while he was able to survive, two of the three judges gave both frames to Bellato, resulting in the draw. Crute won't be 29 years of age until next month, so he should have some gas left in the tank if he's still committed to fighting. The bigger issue is that he now hasn't won a fight dating back to October 2020.

Crute is scheduled to compete against fellow light heavyweight Rodolfo Bellato in Sydney at UFC 312 on Feb. 8, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Crute was scheduled to fight Marcin Prachnio at UFC 312. The latter withdrew, leading to Bellato stepping up for Sydney. Either way, Crute will look to win his first fight scheduled since 2023.
