Set to fight Charriere
Mariscal will face Morgan Charriere at UFC Vegas 90 on April 6, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Seungwoo Choi (undisclosed) was originally matched up with Charriere but was forced to withdraw. Mariscal is coming off a win over Jack Jenkins and has victories in his first two UFC bouts. Charriere is also coming off his promotional debut, which was a win against Manolo Zecchini.

Opponent injury leads to win
Mariscal defeated Jack Jenkins via verbal submission (arm injury) at 3:19 of Round 2 at UFC 293 on Saturday in Sydney, Australia.
ANALYSIS
That makes back-to-back upset wins for Mariscal in his first two UFC bouts. He took out Trevor Peek via unanimous decision in late June, and although the arm injury suffered by Jenkins here led to the stoppage, Mariscal -- who entered as a +170 underdog -- had all the momentum in Round 2 and was clearly pulling ahead. The soon-to-be 31-year-old lacks high-end athleticism, and that figures to hamper Mariscal down the road, but he's tough, durable, aggressive and has an excellent gas tank. That should be enough to keep the Illinois native competitive most every time he steps into the Octagon.

Jenkins fight scheduled
Mariscal will fight Jack Jenkins at UFC 293 in Sydney on Sept. 10, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Mariscal won his UFC debut on 10 days' notice and his promotional career will not get any easier. Jenkins has won all but two of his 14 fights and will be fighting Mariscal in his native country.

Pulls upset in UFC debut
Mariscal defeated Trevor Peek via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC on ABC 5 on Saturday in Jacksonville, Florida.
ANALYSIS
Making his UFC debut on 10 days' notice, Mariscal thrived in what was a high-energy brawl. He finished the 15-minute bout with a 145-65 edge in total strikes landed. He also connected on 4-of-12 takedown attempts, good for 5:29 worth of control time. What was most impressive of all was Mariscal's gas tank. He kept the same crazy pace the duration of the fight despite not even knowing he would be competing here just a couple of weeks ago. Mariscal was up and down during his career on the regional circuit, so there's no reason to believe there will be any sort of prolonged winning streak forthcoming now that he's competing at the highest level, but this was a good start to his UFC run.
