Struggles continue in Vegas
Vendramini lost to Paddy Pimblett via KO (punches) at 4:25 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It won't make Vendramini feel any better, but he looked like the better fighter prior to the stoppage. Unfortunately, he crumbled following a quick blitz from the debuting Pimblett. Vendramini nearly pulled a rabbit out of his hat after clearly dropping the first two rounds. He allowed the much bigger Ziam to counter him to death over the course of the first ten minutes before recognizing the predicament he was in and throwing everything but the kitchen sink at his opponent during the final frame. It was impressive, but ultimately too little, too late. The 25-year-old Brazilian has how alternated losses and wins in his first three UFC bouts. He should be back in short order.

He ate a couple kicks himself and failed on a takedown attempt before a quick exchange turned momentum in Vendramini's direction. A counter right hand followed by multiple right hooks wobbled Ayari, but it was a shin that connected flush with Ayari's neck that caught the referee's attention. It only took a couple follow-up shots and the fight was over. The quick finish will ulitmately earn the Italian one of four $50,000 Performance of the Night bonuses awarded Saturday evening. Vendramini hasn't fought in the UFC since September of 2018 when he lost to Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos and sustained multiple injuries, and he's been on the recovery track ever since.
