Daytona Start for DGM
XFINITY Series
February 10, 2023
DGM Racing announced that Labbe will pilot the team's No. 36 car in the season opener at Daytona International Speedway.
ANALYSIS
Labbe will once again be splitting time in DGM Racing's No. 36 Chevrolet this season. He made 26 starts in the car as the primary driver last year. Labbe will get the season-opener at Daytona, but the rest of his schedule is not announced at this point. We would expect he'll get the majority of starts for the team in this entry again in 2023.

At the time of this writing, it hasn't been confirmed that Labbe is returning to the No. 36 Chevrolet of DGM Racing, but it's most likely a certainty. The veteran Canadian driver has been with this team for the past three seasons and has posted respectable results with the outfit. Labbe collected three Top-10 and 16 Top-20 finishes en route to a respectable 19th-place points finish for the second consecutive season. Team owner/crew chief Mario Gosselin will likely continue call the shots for Labbe as they look to continue making gains in this division of NASCAR. The 30-year-old driver's consistency has improved incrementally in the last three campaigns, and we'll see if that trend continues in 2023.
It hasn't been announced at the time of this writing, but it's believed that Labbe will return with DGM Racing for 2022. He's raced with this small team for the past several years. Last season Labbe would register just three Top-10 finishes and wind up a subpar 19th-place in the final driver standings. Those figures were down modestly over his 2020 statistics. Labbe will look to hit the reset button in the upcoming season and claw his way back up the driver standings. At the rate that the Xfinity Series is growing and attracting new teams and talent, it will be a difficult task for the Canadian driver. Fortunately for DGM Racing, Labbe now has 112 starts of experience in this division of NASCAR and the funding seems somewhat secure. He'll be constantly battling with the other young drivers in the series to crack the Top-15 most weekends in the schedule.
The Canadian driver completed his best campaign to-date in the Xfinity Series last season. Labbe split time between the No. 90 and No. 36 DGM Chevrolets last year and earned a combined five Top-10 finishes. Plans have not been announced as of this writing for this race team, but it's believed that Labbe will return to the No. 90 team in whole or in part in the upcoming season. The 27-year-old driver now has 79 starts in this division of NASCAR and is beginning to show his skill. Labbe should post similar stats in the upcoming season and slot somewhere in the middle teens of the driver standings by season's end. DGM is a growing two-car team, but still has a way to go to catch up to other middle-tier teams in the Xfinity Series.
At the time of this writing DGM Racing hasn't announced formal 2020 plans, but it's believed they will attempt another full-time schedule with their No. 90 Chevy Camaro. The team featured a handful of drivers last season including: Ronnie Bassett Jr., Alex Labbe, Dillon Bassett among others. If they compete in 2020 we should see a similar driver lineup and effort from this race team. The driver rotation had some bright spots along the way last season, like Labbe's sixth-place finish at the Charlotte Roval and Bassett's pair of Top 15's in the two Richmond races. Outside of those the team collected 12 total Top-20 finishes for the campaign. It was one of the better multi-driver efforts in the Xfinity Series last year.
Labbe was one of the pleasant surprises of last season. The Canadian driver and his DGM Racing team came virtually out of nowhere to claim one Top-10 and five Top-15 finishes en route to a respectable 17th-place finish in the final driver standings. The team's lowly three DNF's speaks volumes of their consistency and excellence. The No. 36 Chevrolet team have not announced their 2019 plans at the time of this writing, but it is expected that both driver and team will return. Labbe's 20.7 average finish and 17th-place points finish were very impressive for a first-full season Xfinity Series campaign. He'll be challenged to push the bar higher in the new season.
