Blue Cross NC 250 Preview
As was the case in 2024, the Charlotte Roval will serve as the final race in the Round of 12 in the Xfinity playoffs. Brandon Jones locked himself into the Round of 8 with his win at Kansas Speedway, while Connor Zilisch and Justin Allgaier also locked in. Sam Mayer is also in good position, but the final four spots are still up for grabs. Jesse Love is on the cut line, only on the good side of things by five points over Nick Sanchez.

As the name implies, the race is a combination of the road course on the infield of the speedway and completed on the traditional oval track. Sam Mayer beat out an impressive field in 2024 that included Shane van Gisbergen and A.J. Allmendinger. The field will be watered down relative to what we saw in 2024, with both Allmendinger and van Gisbergen in the Cup Series.
Similar to short tracks, there should be some considerable chaos toward the end of the race in particular. There were seven cautions, including a final one that sent the race to overtime. Sammy Smith, Austin Hill and Harrison Burton will all be pushing hard for the win as they are the additional drivers on the outside looking in on the cut line.

Connor Zilisch is the obvious choice to build through, as his track record on road courses is clear from the road course history above. However, DK has also taken that into account with its pricing, making it very difficult to roster him and an otherwise competitive roster. That leads us to Mayer, who doesn't have a great history at road courses this season but has been excellent at the Roval, winning each of the last two races at the track.
Sawalich and Eckes have both proven themselves quickly at road courses. Sawalich hasn't always had the finishes, but he's qualified inside the top 10 at Chicago, Watkins Glen and Portland. Eckes has performed very well in general, finishing inside the top five at COTA, Mexico City and Portland as well as a top-10 finish at Watkins Glen.
There are a couple of different ways to fill the roster from there. Austin Green and Harrison Burton are both very strong values, rostering both of them instead of Kvapil, while also not requiring a bottom-tier driver to make salaries fit. The other option is to shoot for more upside with a stars and scrubs approach, which is more similar to the picks above.
Best Bets for the Blue Cross NC 250
Race Winner: Sam Mayer (+650)
Top-five finish: Christian Eckes(+275), Carson Kvapil (+300)
Head-to-Head matchups
Nick Sanchez (-115) vs. Sammy Smith (-115)
Sheldon Creed (-125) vs. Austin Hill (-105)
The race-winner options and top-five finishers have been covered fairly thoroughly, so we can move to the head-to-head matchups. Smith has been mediocre at the Roval, averaging a 19th-place starting position.
Creed has had the opposite problem. He's consistently qualified well, only to fall down the order during the race. In contrast, Hill has consecutive top-10 finishes and offers a bit of extra value.
