Best FPL Differentials for Gameweek 7: Players to Challenge the Template

A few weeks into the Fantasy Premier League season, many FPL teams are starting to look the same. To get ahead of your rivals, you'll need to back the right differentials who can break the template.

In this article, I highlight the best FPL differentials for Gameweek 7 who could provide the points that you're looking for. Whether that's some DEFCON defenders like Nordi Mukiele or players just returned from injury in Ismaila Sarr, every position is covered.

Check out our updated FPL rankings, FPL tips and cheat sheets to fine-tune your squad.

Nordi Mukiele - 1.7%

I mentioned Mukiele in last week's article as a non-template Wildcard pick. I suggested Sunderland could see a set-piece goal coming in Gameweek 6, and that did happen.

Unfortunately, it came from the other centre-back, Omar Alderete, rather than Mukiele.

Whilst they are both great options, I still prefer the Frenchman over his teammate, as Alderete is very rash and is likely to rack up quite a few yellow cards. Alderete never finished with fewer than eight yellow cards in any of his prior four La Liga seasons.

Man United struggled to defend Michael Kayode's long throw-ins at the weekend, so Mukiele and Sunderland could have similar success this week. Maybe this time it'll be Mukiele instead of Alderete getting on the scoresheet.

Chris Richards - 2.8%

Crystal Palace are unbeaten in 18 straight games (prior to Thursday's UECL contest) and are keeping clean sheets for fun this season. They have three clean sheets from six games in the league, and they've already played some top attacking teams such as Chelsea and Liverpool.

Richards has hit the defensive contribution threshold in three of these games and is averaging over 10 defensive contributions per contest.

Many are looking at his teammate, Marc Guehi, who already has three attacking returns this season. However, an attacking return every other game is not a sustainable rate for a defender, so I prefer spending slightly less on Richards, as he is a better bet for defensive contributions.

Ismaila Sarr - 3.9%

Sticking with the South London side, Sarr returned from injury at the weekend and managed to grab a goal in an impressive display against Liverpool. The Senegalese international was a popular pick before his injury and has seemingly picked up where he left off.

Most impressive is that he managed 75 minutes in his first match back after missing almost a month of action.

With Eberechi Eze no longer at the club, there is more pressure on Sarr to provide the attacking spark for Crystal Palace. With Everton and Bournemouth up next, he could be a nice budget option at £6.4m.

Yankuba Minteh - 2.2%

Another budget option to consider is Minteh at just £5.9m. The Brighton winger has picked up three attacking returns in his last three games against Bournemouth, Spurs and Chelsea.

Manager Fabian Hürzeler can't always be trusted when it comes to rotating his forward line. Already early in the season, Danny Welbeck has moved in and out of the XI, and toward the end of the 24/25 season, Kaoru Mitoma wasn't a guarantee to make the XI every game.

However, Minteh has started every Premier League game this season. For now, it at least seems like he's guaranteed a spot having gone at least 89 minutes in four of six matches.

Nick Woltemade - 3.3%

Newcastle's new striker has impressed since joining from Stuttgart at the end of the transfer window. In a somewhat disappointing Newcastle attack, he's scored two goals in his first three games for the club.

Given Newcastle's packed fixture schedule, he's been rotated in some games, but he has started all of the Premier League matches. There are questions about time once Yoane Wissa returns, but that's still weeks from happening.

Now that the Arsenal game is out of the way, Newcastle have some nicer fixtures with Nottingham Forest, West Ham and Brentford all in their next five, so the German could tick along nicely at £7.1m.

Jorgen Strand Larsen - 1.4%

Strand Larsen has yet to find the back of the net in the league this season despite looking dangerous in plenty of games. He did, however, score twice in 18 minutes against West Ham in the EFL Cup prior to picking up a nagging Achilles issue.

Last season, there was quite a predictable pattern from Wolves. Unsurprisingly, they weren't great in the tougher fixtures but performed well against teams in the bottom half of the table.

Up next, they have a nice fixture run of Brighton, Sunderland, Burnley and Fulham, in which I would back the Norwegian to provide good value at just £6.4m.
