Yahoo DFS Soccer: Wednesday UCL Picks

FORWARDS

Lionel Messi, BAR at SLP (€29): Messi has been up to his usual tricks since making a full recovery from a thigh injury that limited his minutes to start the season. He's scored or assisted in four consecutive outings and should have several opportunities to make it five in what could turn into a lopsided affair at Slavia Prague.

Mohamed Salah, LIV at GNK (€29): Salah bagged a brace in his last UCL appearance, and despite missing the last game with an injury, he boasts the best anytime goalscorer odds of any player on the board. While Genk shored things up defensively by shutting out Napoli in their last UCL game, if he's good to go he should be licking his chops at the prospect of facing a side that shipped six goals in their first Group E match.

Hwang Hee-Chan, RBS v. NAP (€25): Hwang has been a man on fire to start the season, with two goals, three assists and over 44 points in just two Champions League games. He's a big part of Salzburg's dynamic attack and will look to help them get back-on-track at home against Napoli on Wednesday.

MIDFIELDERS

Zlatko Junuzovic, RBS v. NAP (€20): Junuzovic plays a pivotal role in one of the most dynamic attacks on the slate thanks to his role on set pieces. He racked up two assists in his UCL opener, and while Napoli presents a stout challenge, he's positioned to put his name back on the score-sheet if the goals start flowing.

James Milner, LIV at GNK (€16): With Trent Alexander-Arnold ruled out with a virus, Milner should see a spike in set pieces Wednesday. That bodes well with Milner priced in the mid-tier and standing over set pieces for the biggest favorite on the slate.

Pizzi, BEF v. LYN (€15): Pizzi is another reasonably priced midfielder with set-piece appeal. He's topped seven points in back-to-back UCL outings without a goal or an assist, and given his multiple avenues of getting involved in the attack, it would be no surprise to see him notch an attacking contribution at home against Lyon.

DEFENDERS

Alejandro Grimaldo, BEF v. LYN (€20): Grimaldo is averaging over nine fantasy points per game without any goals, shots, or clean sheet points through the first two group games. He sees a sizable share of Benfica's set pieces, and Lyon is an opponent that he could very well turn in a healthy combination of attacking and defending points against.

Andreas Ulmer, RBS v. NAP (€18): Ulmer gives us another defender with a share of set pieces, giving his fantasy stock a nice bump as a defender who could pick up points on both sides of the ball. With Salzburg capable of scoring goals in bulk, he should see multiple opportunities to contribute versus Napoli.

Nelson Semedo, BAR at SLP (€13): Semedo accrued eight points in his last UCL outing despite Barcelona conceding to Inter Milan. He puts in enough work defensively to turn in a serviceable score regardless, and he gives us a cheap inlet to a Barcelona defense that has the second-best clean sheet odds on the slate.

GOALKEEPER

Odisseas Vlachodimos, BEF v. LYN (€12): Vlachodimos has had a rough go of it through the first two games of group stage play, but it's not like Lyon are scoring goals in bulk. In fact, they've been shut out in three of their last four games, putting him firmly in play at near minimum salary.
