Christian Walton

Walton enters the 2026/27 season as Ipswich Town's first-choice goalkeeper after an outstanding Championship campaign in which he made 36 starts, recorded 98 saves and posted 16 clean sheets en route to the club's promotion back to the Premier League. He has rebounded from a limited role during Ipswich's previous top-flight stay, when he made just seven appearances in 2024/25, to establish himself as manager Kieran McKenna's clear No. 1 between the posts. Walton's strong shot-stopping numbers and willingness to play out from the back throughout last season give Ipswich confidence he can handle an increase in shot volume and quality against superior Premier League attacks. While replicating his clean sheet and save totals from the Championship will be difficult given the step up in competition, Walton's added experience should make him a more reliable presence in goal than Ipswich had during their last spell in the top flight. He profiles as a high-volume save option in most fantasy formats, even though the low-event nature of a newly promoted side could cap his overall ceiling.
