Luciano Acosta

Acosta contributed a career-high 14 goals and 16 assists in 2024, marking three straight seasons of 20-plus goal contributions for FC Cincinnati. Since joining Cincinnati from a disappointing stint with Atlas in Liga MX, Acosta has been one of the elite attacking midfielders in MLS and has been paramount to the team's success. It was a disappointing end to the season for Acosta and company, losing in the first round of the MLS playoffs on penalties to NYCFC at TQL Stadium. Acosta's post-match interview sent shockwaves around MLS after he told the media it might have been his last game with the club. While a transfer isn't currently in the works, Acosta mentioned he'd like to return to Boca Juniors if the opportunity arose. Acosta is under contract through 2026 (with an option for 2027), and FC Cincinnati will be reluctant to let him go as he's the heart and soul of the team. If they can retain Acosta, he should be a lock to contribute 20-plus goals again in 2025.
