Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

After failing to pull off the sweep in Game 4, the Heat will try again to dispatch the Bucks on Tuesday. The Lakers will also try to build off their win against the Rockets in Game 2 of their series. As far as viable options on Yahoo goes, here are some players to target, as well as a few to potentially avoid.

GUARDS

LeBron James, LAL at HOU ($53): James wasn't going to let the Lakers fall into an 0-2 series hole Sunday, as he dominated when he was on the floor. He finished an assist shy of a triple-double on his way to 65.7 Yahoo points. He's scored at least 62.4 Yahoo points in four of seven playoff games and should continue to have an extremely high ceiling in Game 3.

Goran Dragic, MIA at MIL ($25): Dragic struggled from the field in Game 4, shooting just 5-for-17, which included hitting one of nine attempts from behind the arc. He did help salvage his scoring performance with six free throws made, and he also chipped in eight assists on his way to scoring 34.8 Yahoo points. The Heat have been reaping the rewards of moving him into the starting five and the move has also paid off for those who have deployed him in DFS considering he's scored at least 33.5 Yahoo points in seven of eight playoff games.

Guard to Avoid

Tyler Herro, MIA at MIL ($17): Herro (hip) is officially listed as questionable for Game 5, but it seems more likely than not that he will take the floor. He hasn't had a great series from a fantasy perspective, though, scoring 25.1 Yahoo points or fewer in three of four games. Add in the fact that he's only scored at least 30 Yahoo points one time in the playoffs, overall, and it's difficult to get excited about his prospects of being successful here.

FORWARDS

Khris Middleton, MIL vs. MIA ($33): The key piece of news to look out for prior to tip off is the status of Giannis Antetokounmpo (ankle). He was dealing with the injury entering Game 4 and was only able to play 11 minutes before being removed from the contest. Even if he tries to take the floor in this game, chances are he will be limited. That could leave the bulk of the scoring responsibilities for Middleton, who finished with 59.6 Yahoo points in Game 4.

Jae Crowder, MIA at MIL ($18): Crowder performed well yet again Sunday, scoring 18 points to go along with five rebounds, three assists and one block. He's locked into heavy playing time, which has enabled him to score at least 29.3 Yahoo points in three straight games. At this reasonable salary, he could provide considerable value.

Forward to Avoid

Kyle Kuzma, LAL at HOU ($15): Kuzma hit six of his seven shot attempts in Game 4 on his way to 13 points. However, even with that efficient performance, he still only scored 24.2 Yahoo points. His playing time has been limited and he's scored eight or fewer points in four of the last six games, so it makes more sense to pay the extra three dollars and roll with Crowder instead.

CENTERS

Brook Lopez, MIL vs. MIA ($21): If Giannis is unable to play in this game, the Bucks are going to need more players than just Middleton to step up if they want to stay alive in the series. Lopez has already increased his scoring in the playoffs, averaging 15.9 points a game compared to his regular season average of 12 points per contest. He's also averaged 4.6 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 1.3 blocks in the playoffs while seeing his playing time increase from 27 minutes a night during the regular season to 32 minutes a night.

P.J. Tucker, HOU vs. LAL ($14): While Lopez could provide value, Tucker is the best budget-friendly center to target. He was excellent in Game 2, scoring 18 points to go along with 11 rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block. With at least 30.8 Yahoo points in three of the last four games and plenty of playing time likely on tap, expect him to be included in a lot of entries.

Center to Avoid

Jeff Green, HOU vs. LAL ($12): Talk about a terrible performance. Green was MIA in Game 2, scoring 3.5 Yahoo points across 22 minutes. He only registered three assists to go along with his four fouls and his plus/minus was an abysmal -26. That's not easy to do in 22 minutes. Since Tucker's salary is only two dollars higher, there's no need to take a chance on Green.
