Martin was selected by the Hornets with the 36th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. He made his NBA debut Oct. 25 against the Timberwolves. In that game, he played 17 minutes and posted four points (1-4 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, two steals and one assist. Overall, Martin appeared in 48 games for the Hornets, averaging 5.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.2 blocks in 18.8 minutes. He shot 43.0 percent from the field, 23.4 percent from three and 64.6 percent from the free-throw line. He set single-game career highs of 13 points, 11 rebounds, nine assists, five threes, three steals and one block. Martin had one of his best performances of the season on Feb. 3 against the Magic. In 28 minutes, the rookie posted 13 points (6-6 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 0-1 FT), eight rebounds, three assists and three steals with no turnovers. It was one of Martin's seven games with double-digit points, one of his 14 games with at least five rebounds and one of his 17 games with at least three assists. Martin also racked up multiple steals in 11 games and at least one block in nine contests.
