Cody Martin

Cody Lee Martin was born in 1995 in Mocksville, North Carolina to Jenny Bennett. He has a twin brother, Caleb, who was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Hornets in July 2019. The two attended hometown Davie County High School for three years, with Cody averaging 15.9 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 3.4 assists as a junior. For their senior season, they transferred to the famed Oak Hill Academy in Virginia on a team that compiled a 41-4 record. Martin's favorite player and sports hero is LeBron James. As a freshman at NC State, Martin started three games and appeared in 16 others. He had a bigger role as a sophomore, playing in 33 games and starting 16. He averaged 6.0 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists. Martin sat out the 2015-16 season after transferring to Nevada. With the Wolf Pack, he started all but two games and became an impact player. As a junior, the 6-foot-7 wing provided 14.0 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.7 assists per contest. He added 1.7 steals and 1.5 blocks and was named the Mountain West's Defensive Player of the Year. The Wolf Pack advanced to the Sweet 16. In a huge comeback win, Martin produced 25 points, seven assists and six rebounds in the Round of 32. Although he thought about entering the 2018 NBA Draft, Martin returned to Reno for his senior season. Martin contributed 12.1 points, 4.9 assists, and 4.5 rebounds during that campaign. He opened the season with three straight double-digit assist games. The Wolf Pack were beaten in the first round by Florida of the 2019 NCAA Tournament. Martin had 23 points, five rebounds and three steals in the loss.
