When Mykhailiuk plays his first game with Toronto next season, he will don his fourth different jersey in four NBA seasons. The 6-foot-7 wingman closed the 2020-21 campaign in promising fashion, averaging 16.0 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.0 steals and 2.3 three-pointers over his final four contests, but his overall numbers were mostly in line with his previous body of work. Of concern, his efficiency from three-point range -- Mykhailiuk's bread and butter -- dropped from 40.4 to 33.4 percent, and his output consequently dipped from 2.1 to 1.6 treys per game. Mykhailiuk could emerge as a low-end source of points and threes if he's able to increase his playing time with the Raptors, but he's more of a wait-and-see player than a draft-day target in fantasy.
The 2018 second-rounder finished his rookie season with 3.2 points, 0.9 rebounds and 0.9 assists across just 10.5 minutes in 42 appearances for the Lakers and Pistons. He played a deep bench role, and didn't make much of an impact in his limited run. The Kansas product shot just 32.9 percent from the floor and 32.6 percent from three, displaying the same worrisome shooting that hampered him in college. His best bet for minutes will come on the wing at small forward, but he'll face stiff competition from Sekou Doumbouya, Luke Kennard and Tony Snell. Mykhailiuk is unlikely to see a boost in minutes in his sophomore season, making him avoidable in most fantasy formats.
Mykhailiuk was selected 17th overall in Round 2 of the 2018 NBA draft after spending four years at The University Kansas, where he broke in his final season, averaging 14.6 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. Mykhailiuk had a strong run at the 2018 NBA Summer League, where he averaged 15 points, 1.7 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game while proving himself as an athletic wing even against tougher competition. Mykhailiuk’s shooting percentage was a bit of an eyesore in college at 42.8 percent, but he did post an impressive 47.5 in the summer league. Being tutored by future Hall Of Famer Lebron James can’t hurt as Mykhailiuk continues to develop his game from an NBA bench.
