DFS College Basketball: Monday Preview

DFS College Basketball: Monday Preview

This article is part of our DFS College Basketball series.

DraftKings and FanDuel are running identical three-game slates Monday, with the first game tipping off at 7:00 EST, followed by two more at 9:00 EST.

Targets

1. Rondel Walker, G, Oklahoma State ($5,500 DK, $5,000 FD)

The first target on Monday's slate is a value play that comes with a caveat. Walker has been highly productive as a starter over the past two games with Isaac Likekele ($5,800 DK, $5,600 FD) sidelined due to a foot injury. Likekele is a game-time decision for Monday's game, and Walker should continue to have a big role if he's held out once again. If Likekele is active, it's not yet clear whether he'd have any limitations during his first game back on the floor. Even though Oklahoma State has the lowest expected scoring total Monday, Walker is one of my top value targets if Likekele is ruled out against Texas Tech. However, the two players could end up splitting time and have somewhat limited fantasy value if he returns Monday.

2. Quincy Guerrier, F, Syracuse ($7,500 DK, $7,800 FD)

Guerrier carries one of the top salaries on Monday's DFS slate, but he's been one of Syracuse's top contributors recently and figures to play a significant role against the Blue Devils on Monday. He's played at least 30 minutes in each of the last 11 games, and he's managed to post double figures in either the scoring or rebound columns in 10 of those 11 appearances. The sophomore has been somewhat cold from the floor after an efficient start to the season, but he's still produced plenty of fantasy output due to his success on the boards.

3. Jordan Goldwire, G, Duke ($5,700 DK, $4,800 FD)

Goldwire has come off the bench in each of the last five games, but he's played at least 20 minutes on each occasion. While the senior's numbers in any given category haven't jumped off the page, he's had versatile output and has still been a solid fantasy contributor. The matchup between Duke and Syracuse carries the highest expected total and is expected to be the most competitive game on Monday's slate. While I like Goldwire's FanDuel value better than his value on DraftKings, he presents a viable option on both platforms for DFS players who are looking to fill their lineups after using players with top-tier salaries.

Fades

1. Eric Williams, F, Oregon ($5,200 DK, $6,000 FD)

Williams had a significant role for the Ducks in January, but he's missed four of the last six games due to a knee injury. While he'll likely be on the court for a second consecutive game Monday, he's come off the bench in each of his last two appearances and has had limited output. Williams could present DFS value down the stretch if he regains his previous role with the Ducks, but he's been restricted recently as he continues to recover from his knee issue.

2. Drew Peterson, F, USC ($4,500 DK, $5,800 FD)

Peterson was heavily involved for the Trojans over the first half of the season, but his production has tapered off in recent contests. He's shooting just 32.3 percent from the floor over the last five games and has topped 10 points just once during that time. The transfer from Rice hasn't had enough output in other categories to produce solid fantasy results, and he could struggle once again Monday during a matchup between two teams with below-average pace.

3. Terrence Shannon, F, Texas Tech ($4,700 DK, $5,400 FD)

Shannon made significant contributions off the bench to begin the calendar year, but he's been hindered by a sore ankle recently. He's had much less playing time as a result, and he only played 15 minutes in Saturday's narrow loss to Kansas. While the sophomore should be able to suit up once again Monday, he could have a minutes restriction to preserve his long-term health ahead of tournament play. Shannon's fantasy numbers have been unreliable over the last three games, and DFS players are better off looking elsewhere until he's considered fully healthy.
