Devy Fantasy Football: Top Week 10 Freshman Performances

Any big-time performance by a true freshman in college football is always exciting. Aside from the fact that you're watching a teenager not far removed from prom excel in a sport where 5th and 6th-year college seniors are the norm, there's the tantalizing promise of what said freshman can develop into and bring to his program years down the line.

It's always worth keeping an eye on big freshman performances for college and devy fantasy football leagues alike. Check out our fantasy football devy rankings page for more on players to target in these league formats. With that, let's get into some of the top performances of Week 10 by freshmen across the country.

College Football Week 10 Freshman Quarterback Standout Performances

Scotty Fox, West Virginia vs. Houston

Fox only tossed for 157 yards on under 60 percent completion, but it was his legs that were a massive catalyst in the Mountaineers' upset over then-No. 22 Houston. The true freshman quarterback ran for 65 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries, displaying his mobility but also his toughness and willpower, absorbing plenty of hits from Cougars' defenders in the process. He ran in the opening touchdown on the game's opening drive, setting the tone, and didn't look back, leading West Virginia to a cathartic victory in what's been a dismal season. Fox could make some noise towards the end of the year in Morgantown.

QB Mason Heintschel, Pittsburgh vs. Stanford

Heintschel continues to be one of the most impressive true freshmen in the sport. The Pitt quarterback had himself another day against Stanford, tossing for 304 yards and three touchdowns on 60.5 percent completion. He did turn the ball over four times (two interceptions, two fumbles), but those kinds of growing pains are to be expected, and the Panthers still won comfortably. He looked very decisive at times; his first touchdown was an impressive strike over the middle with some serious heat on the throw. He looks very comfortable making tough throws into tight windows to all levels of the field.  This kid is the real deal.

QB Rodney Tisdale, Western Kentucky vs. New Mexico State

With Hilltoppers' starter Maverick McIvor sidelined, Tisdale got the start once again for Western Kentucky, and what a performance he had. When all was said and done, Tisdale gained 329 total yards with four passing touchdowns, one interception and 78.9 percent completion. The redshirt freshman quarterback looked extremely calm and poised in the pocket, delivering a number of high-level throws as the Hilltoppers easily handled the Aggies. Tisdale looks to have a bright future ahead of him, and if he keeps playing like this, there's a great chance it won't be in Kentucky.

College Football Week 10 Freshman Running Back Standout Performances

RB Jayden Scott, NC State vs. Georgia Tech

NC State handed Georgia Tech its first loss of the season in a huge upset win in Raleigh, and Scott was one of the heroes for the Wolfpack. The redshirt freshman, "Duke" Scott ran for nearly 200 yards (196, to be exact) and a score on 24 carries. He ran with vision and power beyond his years. His second touchdown was a 30-yard dagger in which he got the edge and scored untouched, the exclamation point on a big win for NC State. His workload will decrease when Hollywood Smothers returns, but Scott made a statement Saturday that he can be the future of someone's backfield.

RB King Miller, USC vs. Nebraska

It's incredible to think this guy started the season as a walk-on afterthought in USC's running back room. Miller has been sensational since assuming lead-back duties, with 357 rushing yards and two touchdowns across his last three games combined. Against Nebraska, he ran for 129 yards and a score on 18 carries, consistently finding room to work right through the teeth of the Huskers' defense. Miller is a no-nonsense runner in the sense that you won't see him dance around much. If there's yards to be gained, he'll gain them, and he often explodes through creases with authority. Miller's late-season emergence is an underrated story in the Big Ten this year.

RB Demon June, North Carolina vs. Syracuse

June put together his second 100-yard outing of the season in North Carolina's cathartic win over Syracuse, the program's first win over Power Four competition in Bill Belichick's tenure. Benjamin Hall looked slated to be the Tar Heels' top ball-carrier moving forward, but he got banged up Friday night against the Orange, and that allowed June to take over. Not only did June run for 101 yards, but he also hauled in a 72-yard touchdown pass on his way to nearly 200 total all-purpose yards. On his touchdown reception, he expertly used his blockers and shed multiple tackles, unleashing a stiff-arm to beat the last defender as the cherry on top. The Tar Heels have a bona fide playmaker in the true freshman June.

College Football Week 10 Freshman Wide Receiver Standout Performances

WR Braylon Staley, Tennessee vs. Oklahoma

The Volunteers lost a heartbreaker to Oklahoma that likely dashed their College Football Playoff hopes, but redshirt freshman Braylon Staley continues to be a huge positive in Knoxville. He finished the game with five grabs for 75 yards and two touchdowns, highlighted by a 54-yard catch-and-run in which he snatched the ball away from two Sooner defenders, proceeded to spin away from them, and then darted down the sideline for a huge score. With 52 grabs for 703 yards and five touchdowns, Staley is the fourth-leading receiver in the SEC through Week 10.

WR Jordan Allen, Georgia Tech vs. NC State

Georgia Tech lost its first game of the 2025 campaign in Raleigh, but the true freshman receiver Allen was a big bright spot. He saw a career-high eight targets and parlayed that into 110 yards on five receptions. He showed some serious wiggle after the catch, so much so that the Yellow Jackets made a concerted effort to get him involved, running a jet counter play to him at one point that ultimately yielded about 24 yards after a filthy juke move. Georgia Tech is a run-first team through and through, but Allen looks like a player who could make a big impact if given the chance.

WR Jeremy Scott, South Alabama vs. Louisiana-Lafayette

The Sun Belt has a new big-play threat, although if he keeps playing like he has the past two weeks, he won't be in the Sun Belt for long. South Alabama wideout Jeremy Scott, a redshirt freshman, has now surpassed 100 yards in back-to-back games and is doing so on 24.8 yards per reception. Against Louisiana-Lafayette, his stat line included a 65-yard bomb he hauled in for six points. He caught a 64-yard touchdown the week prior as well. Scott has emerged late in 2025, but he could be either solidifying his role with the Jaguars in the future or making himself some money by way of the transfer portal.
