Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Winfield had a letdown of a season after becoming the highest-paid defensive back in NFL history. He suffered a foot injury in Week 1, which he later aggravated in the middle of the season, and was unable to deliver the explosive plays we've come to expect from him. For example, he failed to intercept a pass and failed to force a fumble, both of which were first for his career. He also tallied his lowest sack total (2.0) since 2021. Now healthy, Winfield should bounce back to his prior form, making him a strong IDP selection. However, it is worth noting that he has a growing history of injury, having been limited to 13 games or fewer in three of his five pro seasons. Read Past Outlooks
Past toe issue
Winfield (toe) has no injury designation ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Saints, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Winfield upgraded from a DNP on Wednesday to a full practice session Friday, suggesting that he's moved past his toe injury in time for the Week 8 contest. The All-Pro safety has appeared in all seven of Tampa Bay's games this season, recording 35 total tackles, including 1.0 sacks, two passes defended and one forced fumble. Expect Winfield to start alongside Tykee Smith to form the Bucs' top safety duo Sunday.

Since stepping foot on an NFL field for the first time in 2021, Winfield has emerged as one of the most well-rounded safeties in the league. He took another step forward in 2023, tallying career-high marks in tackles, sacks, passes defensed, interceptions and both forced and recovered fumbles. His sacks in particular look to be sustainable, as he found himself playing in the box at the highest rate of his career last season. This offseason, Winfield landed a four-year, $84.1 million contract in the offseason - the highest figure ever for a defensive player. Needless to say, he'll be the leader of the Buccaneers defense for the foreseeable future. The only thing that has slowed Winfield down to this point in his career is injuries, as he was limited to 13 games in both 2021 and 2022.

Dealing with leg injury
Winfield missed practice Wednesday with a lower leg injury, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The talented safety didn't have an injury designation for Saturday night's preseason opener against the Titans, but he unsurprisingly was held out along with many other defensive starters. Therefore, the leg injury appears to be a new concern, and head coach Todd Bowles didn't elaborate on how much time Winfield could be in line to miss.
