2025 Fantasy Outlook
Browning's 2023 performance when Joe Burrow was injured gave him a new lease on his professional life, but Burrow remained healthy for the entirety of the 2024 season, limiting Browning to just five snaps and zero pass attempts. When we last saw Browning on the field, he struggled on occasion with the deep ball and against a good pass rush, though how many backup quarterbacks don't struggle against a good pass rush? Because he sits on such valuable backup quarterback real estate, Browning is still roster-worthy in select super flex formats, particularly now that both Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins are signed for the long term. Looks set for significant run
Browning appears set to take over as Cincinnati's starting quarterback for at least several weeks, with Joe Burrow (toe) slated to undergo surgery and expected to be facing a three-month recovery timetable, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Browning stepped in to relieve the injured Burrow during Sunday's 31-27 victory over the Jaguars, completing 21 of 32 pass attempts for 241 yards and two touchdowns and three interception while also scoring on a game-winning, one-yard touchdown carry. The presence of the standout receiver duo of Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins will assist Browning's efforts to produce while stepping in as Cincinnati's starter under center, beginning with a Week 3 matchup with the Vikings. The Bengals currently have Brett Rypien on the practice squad but are likely to add additional quarterback depth in the near future. While Browning may face additional competition in the weeks to come, he now becomes a priority add in fantasy formats that allow multiple signal-callers to be started.

An undrafted free agent in 2019, Browning got his first taste of NFL action early last year and then became the starter Week 12 after Joe Burrow was lost to season-ending injury. Safe to say, Browning exceeded expectations, keeping the Bengals in the playoff hunt until late in the year and leading the league in completion percentage (70.4). It was almost entirely built on short passes, though. Just 7.8 percent of his attempts were deeper than 20 yards, 28th in the league, and his average target depth was a mere 6.4 yards (31st). The only qualified QB lower than that was … Joe Burrow at 6.3 yards. Browning wasn’t corralled because of his lack of arm strength, but because the Bengals offense, for whatever reason, didn’t scheme deep. Browning, in fact, posted a 54.2 on-target percentage on downfield throws (9th). It’s enough to make him an option in two-QB leagues, should Burrow go down again.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could get run as starter
Browning could be in line to start Week 3 against the Vikings and possibly beyond, as Joe Burrow is believed to have suffered a turf toe injury during Sunday's 31-27 win against the Jaguars, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Browning entered in relief of the injured Burrow, who was spotted in a walking boot and using a crutch after the game, and the backup produced three total touchdowns to pull out the win. Browning played well when Burrow missed the final seven games of the 2023 season, posting a 4-3 record in those games and throwing for at least 324 yards three times in that stretch.
