Rest-of-Season Projections
Released by the Texans in August of 2026.Tampa Bay signed Rypien to its practice squad Tuesday, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Rypien has some familiarity with the Buccaneers' offense, as the team's current quarterbacks coach, Zac Robinson, was with the Rams in 2023 during Rypien's stint in Los Angeles. Tampa Bay developed a need for quarterback depth after Baker Mayfield suffered a thumb injury in Sunday's loss to Minnesota that is expected to sideline him for multiple weeks. Undrafted rookie Jalon Daniels is in line to start for the Buccaneers on Sunday against Green Bay, while Easton Stick is likely to serve as his backup.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could be needed in Week 15
Rypien may start for the Colts in Week 15 against the Seahawks, with Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reporting that both Daniel Jones and Riley Leonard suffered injuries in Sunday's loss to the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Jones was dealt the more serious blow, as a torn Achilles will cost him the rest of the season. That alone would be enough to get Rypien brought up from Indianapolis' practice squad, but Leonard, a sixth-round selection in the 2025 Draft, also picked up a knee injury after replacing Jones in Sunday's loss. If Leonard is also sidelined for Week 15, Rypien would be the next man for the Colts under center. The 29-year-old last started an NFL game in 2023 while with the Rams, and he's appeared in only 11 games total since making his debut with the Broncos in 2020.
