Hurst announced his retirement from the NFL after 10 seasons on Wednesday, Katherine Teller of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hurst started 51 games between guard and tackle for the Saints since joining the team as a free agent after the 2020 season. Prior to his stint with the Saints, Hurst began his career with the Ravens in 2014 after going undrafted out of North Carolina. His retirement comes just one day prior to the start of the 2024 NFL Draft and leaves the Saints with a glaring need at left guard, though the team did reportedly have advanced warning of Hurst's decision.

Hurst started 31 of his 32 games played over the past two seasons. Entering his age-32 season, Hurst should serve as an above-average swing tackle behind Trevor Penning and Ryan Ramczyk.
With the departure of Terron Armstead to the Dolphins this offseason, Hurst is in a battle with rookie first-round draft selection Trevor Penning for the starting left tackle spot. Early on, it appears Hurst has the inside track to securing the starting job.
Hurst occasionally comes in as a sixth offensive lineman but he'll start the 2021 season as a swing tackle.
Hurst is a part of Baltimore's plans after inking a four-year deal this offseason, but where exactly he fits along the line is less clear. He has experience at several spots, including both tackle spots. He appears to be the favorite to start at right tackle, but he'll need to hold off rookie Orlando Brown.
Hurst struggled badly when pressed into action as a rookie UDFA in 2014, but he'll likely make the roster as a backup at both tackle spots.
Made the Ravens' roster as an undrafted rookie, and will likely be the third-string option at both tackle spots.
