Phillips was productive in his first year with the Vikings in 2022, achieved career highs in tackles (59), sacks (1.5) and defensive snaps (664) for the second straight season. Regarding the last stat, he paced Minnesota's defensive line in playing time while working next to fellow veteran Dalvin Tomlinson. Shifts to IR
The Vikings placed Hicks (shin) on injured reserve Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Hicks' move to IR comes after he required an emergency surgical procedure Sunday to alleviate "compartment syndrome" related to a shin contusion he suffered in the Vikings' win over the Saints earlier in the day, per Alec Lewis of The Athletic. The standout linebacker has since been released from the hospital, but he'll be sidelined for at least the Vikings' next four games while he recovers. His absence should pave the way for Ivan Pace to serve as the Vikings' defensive play caller, while Troy Dye and practice-squad signee Anthony Barr look like the top candidates to fill Hicks' vacated snaps at linebacker. Through Minnesota's first 10 games, he tallied 87 tackles, one sack, one interception, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble.

He also made other contributions, namely 5.5 sacks, four interceptions, three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.
