2023 Fantasy Outlook
The Bills likely won't prioritize Murray in their 2023 offense, but they handed him just enough guaranteed money to make his roster spot relatively safe, even as an RB3 behind James Cook and Damien Harris. As long as he makes the roster, though, Murray would be surprisingly close to mainstream fantasy relevance. Cook has potential workload limitations due to his light frame, while Harris could have limitations due to recurring hamstring issues. Hines, meanwhile, is just a hurry-up back and returner. The Bills gave Murray more than $800,000 guaranteed on his one-year deal, so they might have targeted him because they specifically wanted someone with his big-back traits to complement the smaller, previously mentioned trio. Murray might also be a better passing-down back than Harris, though likely the lesser runner at this point in their respective careers. Read Past Outlooks

Shares backfield with Cook, Johnson
Murray carried the ball nine times for 30 yards in Sunday's 37-34 overtime loss to the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Murray's role has certainly settled into a tight zone this season -- he's had nine or 10 carries in each of the past three weeks while playing a modest role in the offense behind starter James Cook. Ty Johnson is also starting to see action in the backfield with a touchdown catch in Week 11 and six carries for 19 yards in the loss to the Eagles. Murray has been an asset for the Bills, but he's simply a bit player in an offense that has plenty of other guys that can score touchdowns. He has found the end zone three times this season, but only once since Week 3.

Romeo Doubs hasn't been in a lot of fantasy lineups recently, but RW's Jerry Donabedian loves the matchup for both Doubs and teammate Jayden Reed in Week 14.

Five starting RBs left Week 13 contests early, potentially setting up lead roles for Ezekiel Elliott, Kenneth Gainwell and others. Meanwhile, Chuba Hubbard and James Conner topped 100 yards and scored twice.

Roschon Johnson took over the lead role Monday night, but it's unclear if that will hold after a Week 13 bye.

Murray's second season in New Orleans was much the same as his first. The veteran back offers a more physical complement to Alvin Kamara's open-field explosiveness, and in that role Murray actually led the league in the percentage of his carries that came on runs between the tackles. Running in traffic hasn't been a hindrance, thanks to the Saints' excellent offensive line, and he's averaged 4.4 yards per carry the last two campaigns. Somewhat surprisingly, only three of his nine touchdowns have come from inside the five-yard line, but the presence of Taysom Hill (in addition to Kamara) may help explain that limited usage at the goal line. Drew Brees' retirement could mean big changes for the Saints offense, but Murray's role doesn't figure to be too much different with Jameis Winston or Hill under center. Per usual, there's no real upside for Murray unless Kamara misses time.
