2024 Fantasy Outlook
It's been four years since Fournette's last 1,000-yard season, and the physical back might be running out of tread on his tires. He did score eight rushing TDs and average 4.5 yards per carry in 2021 for the Buccaneers, but since then his efficiency, and his opportunities, have shrunk. Fournette did turn himself into an effective passing-down option in Tampa Bay, and he might still be able to provide a team with useful backfield depth, but at 29 years old he could have a hard time out-performing a younger, cheaper running back for that sort of role. Meeting in Indy
Fournette is visiting with the Colts on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Fournette couldn't find a home until the end of October last season, when he signed with the Bills and appeared in two regular-season games. The veteran running back may have lost a step on the ground, but he was at least a capable receiver out of the backfield when he was with Tampa Bay in 2022, recording 73 catches on 83 targets for 523 yards, including three touchdowns. The potential addition of the LSU product would likely see him garner a practice-squad spot initially, but he'd ultimately look to surpass Tyler Goodson, and possibly Trey Sermon, on the team's positional depth chart behind clear lead back, Jonathan Taylor.

Fournette is a free agent after being released by the rebuilding Buccaneers. At 28, it would be surprising if Fournette were truly done playing, but he might have damaged his market somewhat last year after appearing overweight in the offseason and then arriving to training camp out of shape. Fournette began the year as the starter, but the Buccaneers began to phase him out in favor of third-round pick Rachaad White by Week 10, and the two mostly split snaps thereafter, with Fournette averaging just 3.5 yards per carry for the season. Still just two years removed from producing 1,266 scrimmage yards and 10 touchdowns in 14 games, Fournette might need to try out for a contract closer to training camp, proving he's in shape and ready to work before a team signs him.

ANALYSIS
Indianapolis has little reliable depth in its backfield behind Jonathan Taylor, so Fournette could be a good fit. The 29-year-old RB played only 26 offensive snaps in 2023, all with the Bills, but he saw a significant workload for the Buccaneers the prior two seasons and scored 16 total touchdowns over 30 regular-season games.
