2024 Fantasy Outlook
Parsons set a new career high with 14.0 sacks last year, but he's been arguably the most consistent pass rusher in the NFL since being drafted 12th overall in 2021, producing 13.0 sacks as a rookie and 13.5 in 2022. Former defensive coordinator Dan Quinn lined him up all over the field looking for mismatches, but it's not yet clear how new DC Mike Zimmer plans to deploy Parsons, or whether the scheme change will have an impact on his numbers. The 25-year-old edge rusher's elite athleticism should allow him to thrive no matter how he's used, however. Read Past Outlooks
Could miss Week 8
Head coach Mike McCarthy told reporters Monday that he's unsure if Parsons (ankle) will play in Dallas' Week 8 matchup against the 49ers after the bye, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The 2021 first-round pick has been sidelined for the past two games after sustaining a high-ankle sprain in the Cowboys' Week 4 win over the Giants, and McCarthy's comments Monday indicate Parsons is still ways away from returning to the field. McCarthy added that Parsons has been "making progress" and that "this is a big week" for his recovery process, as Dallas doesn't play again until Oct. 27. Next week's practice participation will provide a better indication of whether Parsons will be able to return in Week 8.

2021
Since being selected with the 12th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Parsons has emerged as one of the most dynamic defensive players in the league, racking up 26.5 sacks in his first 33 games for Dallas without even being a full-time pass rusher. Defensive coordinator Dan Quinn sees the value in keeping offenses guessing by lining Parsons up all over the formation and using him in different roles, and while that makes the 24-year-old's ultimate statistical output tough to predict, his main job for the Cowboys will still be to terrorize quarterbacks.

Dealing with serious ankle sprain
Parsons sustained a left high-ankle sprain in the Week 4 win over the Giants on Thursday night and could miss the Week 5 road matchup against the Steelers, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Head coach Mike McCarthy said that he didn't have a specific timeline for Parsons' return and added that the star edge rusher would be getting a second opinion. The injury occurred when Giants left guard Greg Van Roten fell on the back of Parsons' leg during a pass-rush play, which led to the latter's exit from the game and an eventual cart ride to the locker room for X-rays.
