2025 Projections
Day-to-day due to back injury
Parsons (back) is day-to-day, head coach Brian Schottenheimer said Friday, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Parsons wasn't on the field Thursday because he was getting some work done on his back. The star pass rusher has yet to take part in practice or drills in camp while embroiled in a contract dispute, and his status for Week 1 will grow increasingly uncertain the longer it takes the Cowboys to reach an agreement with him on an extension.

How do Micah Parsons' measurables compare to other linebackers?
This section compares his draft workout metrics with players at the same position. The bar represents the player's percentile rank. For example, if the bar is halfway across, then the player falls into the 50th percentile for that metric and it would be considered average.
* All metrics are from his Pro Day (not the combine).

Parsons set a new career high with 14.0 sacks last year, but he's been arguably the most consistent pass rusher in the NFL since being drafted 12th overall in 2021, producing 13.0 sacks as a rookie and 13.5 in 2022. Former defensive coordinator Dan Quinn lined him up all over the field looking for mismatches, but it's not yet clear how new DC Mike Zimmer plans to deploy Parsons, or whether the scheme change will have an impact on his numbers. The 25-year-old edge rusher's elite athleticism should allow him to thrive no matter how he's used, however.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
No progress on talks
Parsons' representation and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones have not resumed any type of contract discussions despite the Pro Bowler's recent trade request and his ongoing lack of practice participation, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jones conceded when asked Wednesday that there was "nothing" preventing the two sides from talking, and he added "...we might, or we might not talk" when asked why no discussions were taking place. Parsons also hasn't spoken to the media about his unresolved contract situation, and when Jones was asked whether there was a deadline on knowing whether the edge rusher would be available for Week 1 against the Eagles, the Cowboys owner responded, in part, by saying "you don't have deadlines when you're playing under a contract."
