Last Week's Farmers Insurance Open
Beginning his fourth round, Kyle Stanley birdied the first two holes to expand his lead to 20-under, giving him a seven-stroke advantage. It was easy to think that he just slammed the door, headed to his first PGA Tour win.
After an tough back nine, he still had a three-stroke lead as he started the closing hole only to build a water-visit and a three-putt eight that forced a playoff, which ended with a missed 5-footer to gave the trophy

Last Week's Farmers Insurance Open

After an tough back nine, he still had a three-stroke lead as he started the closing hole only to build a water-visit and a three-putt eight that forced a playoff, which ended with a missed 5-footer to gave the trophy to Brandt Snedeker.
Long-hitter Stanley definitely showed talent and poise for three rounds and nine holes. He has the demeanor and tools needed for success on the Tour and this experience will bolster his confidence.
Young players John Huh, Martin Flores, Sang-Moon Bae and others were sprinkled in the mix from the get-go. It appears we again will see the under-30 group getting its first PGA Tour wins. Check out the Q-School and Nationwide newcomers for sleepers.

In 2011, Mark Wilson got his second win here. After his earlier win this year don't you think he is fully fueled and ready to go here again? Last year, Tommy Gainey, who held down first place in each of the first three rounds (63 -8, 65 -14, 68 -17), created a three-over 74 to drop back in a tie for eighth.
The last 10 champions of this event dating to 2002 have combined for just one bogey on the fun-living, raucous par-3 16th hole. Phil Mickelson was the last winner here playing the 16th above par for the week.
Wilson's stats show he gave up 10 yards to the rest of the top seven. Driving distance is important as is scrambling. Par-4 birdies and bogey avoidance are desirables. Check out the birdies vs. bogeys of Vijay Singh, J.B. Holmes and Gary Woodland. Reaching back to 2005 starting with Mark Wilson, the winners were Hunter Mahan (2010), Kenny Perry (2009), Holmes (2008), Aaron Baddeley (2007), Holmes (2006), Phil Mickelson (2005).
