Gets new deal from UFC
March 24, 2021
Silva said Tuesday that he agreed with the UFC on a new four-fight contract, Guilherme Cruz of reports.
The promotion extended Silva's deal after he claimed his first UFC victory in Las Vegas over the weekend, when he defeated JP Buys via second-round TKO. Silva had previously gone 0-2 with a no contest over his first three fights under the UFC banner.
Defeats JP Buys
March 20, 2021
Silva defeated JP Buys via TKO (punch) at 2:56 in Round 2 at UFC Vegas 22 on Saturday.
The fight started with a low blow and an eye poke from Silva, but no points were deducted. Silva was able to win Round 1 by being a little quicker to the punch and earning some top control time. Silva was seemingly slowing down in Round 2 but could hurt Buys with punches and acquire a couple of knockdowns. Silva's most significant differences in his favor during this fight were experience, speed and grappling. The stoppage win will earn him a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus.
Facing JP Buys in March
February 12, 2021
Silva will square off against JP Buys on March 20, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
Neither fighter has a UFC victory to their name, though for Buys, that's because he's yet to make his promotional debut. Silva has lost all three of his fights under the UFC banner, though his debut loss to Khalid Taha back in 2019 was later changed to a no-contest.
Still looking for first UFC win
October 10, 2020
Silva lost to Tagir Ulanbekov via unanimous decision (27-30, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
Silva looked reasonably strong in an action-packed fight in which both men landed their fair share of damage. Silva's best round was the first. He made a concerted attempt in the early going to damage the legs of Ulanbekov before his opponent was able to turn the tide. Silva is a decent all-around fighter, but his 5-foot-4 frame leaves him undersized even though he competes in the UFC's lightest weight class. The 30-year-old is now 0-2 (1NC) in his first three bouts with the company.
Rebooked for October 10

The fight was originally booked for September 12, but the UFC decided to ultimately push the bout back a month. Silva is looking for his first UFC victory.
