Marc-Andre Barriault
Power Bar

Added to September card
May 24, 2021
Barriault will take on Dalcha Lungiambula in a middleweight matchup at the UFC event scheduled for September 4, French MMA journalist Ken Wong reports (via Marcel Dorff of MMADNA).
Barriault picked up a job-saving victory in his last walk to the cage against Abu Azaitar, landing 141 significant strikes en route to the third-round stoppage. While that helped him bounce back from a four-fight winless streak, he'll need to keep it up against Lungiambula and his wrestling-based attack. Barriault does have a respectable 72 percent takedown defense, however, in addition to a major edge in striking volume. He'll also sport a five-inch height advantage, but will be giving up two inches in reach.

Earns first UFC victory
March 27, 2021
Barriault defeated Abu Azaitar via TKO (punches) at 4:56 of Round 3 at UFC 260 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
It was far from a flawless performance from Barriault, but it was one that likely saved his job following a four-fight winless streak (0-3, 1NC) to begin his UFC run. The Canadian began slowly. Azaitar was the more effective fighter in Round 1, but Barriault's gas tank held up -- kind of -- while Azaitar's quickly deteriorated. Barriault found himself in a dominating position for nearly all of Round 3 before referee Jerin Valel mercifully called a halt to the bout in the final seconds. The 31-year-old is a one-dimensional power puncher with poor striking defense. It's highly unlikely this result is the start of any sort of streak for Barriault.
Facing Abu Azaitar
February 12, 2021
Barriault will take on Abu Azaitar on March 27, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
Both fighters failed drug tests in 2020. Barriault's six-month suspension was recently completed, while Azaitar will be done with his seven-month ban in late February. Other than that similarity, their careers haven't been particularly similar of late. Azaitar is undefeated in 10 straight fights, including one with the UFC, while Barriault is winless in his first four UFC matches, as his lone victory was changed to a no-contest following his failed test.
Accepts six-month suspension
December 4, 2020
Barriault has accepted a six month suspension from the USADA following an unintentional use ruling after testing positive for ostarine, Aaron Bronsteter of reports.
Barriault tested positive for this way back in late June after he defeated Oskar Piechota via TKO. He will be unable to compete in the Octagon until after January 20, 2021. Barriault will look to improve his UFC to 2-3 the next time he gets a shot.
Tests positive for ostarine
August 5, 2020
According to the Nevada State Athletic Commission, Barriault has tested positive for ostarine, Marc Raimondi of reports.
Barriault's positive test has resulted in a temporary suspension extension following the positive test. He posted a statement that the banned substance was the result of a contaminated supplement, but more information on his long-term ramifications should surface once the NAC hearing occurs.
Finally earns first UFC victory
June 20, 2020
Barriault defeated Oskar Piechota via TKO (punches) at 4:50 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
That effort should be good enough to save Barriault's job. He and Piechota had combined to drop six fights in a row (three each), but it was the Canadian who emerged victorious here. Barriault's defense is questionable, but his power is legitimate. Piechota is unable to properly defend himself and that was a serious issue against an opponent in Barriault who goes head-hunting on every shot he throws. The 30-year-old Quebec native needs to prove he is more than just a knockout artist, but this performance should ensure his next fight is with the UFC.
