Roman Dolidze

Slated to return in June
March 29, 2021
Dolidze (face) will take on Alessio Di Chirico in a middleweight matchup at a UFC event scheduled for June 5, Al Zullino of Tapology reports.
Dolidze was evaluated for a right orbital injury and a potential facial fracture following his loss to Trevin Giles via unanimous decision at UFC Vegas 22 on March 20, but he'll be able to return sooner than expected. He'll face Di Chirico, who is coming off a win over Joaquin Buckley via KO (head kick) at UFC on ABC 1 in January. Dolidze has slight advantages in both height and reach.

Possible facial injuries
March 23, 2021
Dolidze is facing a six-month medical suspension from the Nevada Athletic Commission pending medical clearance for facial injuries, reports.
Dolidze is being evaluated for a right orbital injury and a potential facial fracture after his loss via unanimous decision to Trevin Giles on Saturday. The 32-year-old fighter will miss at least a month, and he'll need full medical clearance in order to enter the Octagon before mid-September.
Loses to Trevin Giles
March 20, 2021
Dolidze lost to Trevin Giles via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Vegas 22 on Saturday.
Dolidze was able to take the first round as he had success landing low kicks and clinch control. The second round was a different story. About midway through the round, Dolidze was attempting heel hooks, which left him open to take a lot of damage from Giles. Giles hurt Dolidze on the feet in Round 3 but initiated grappling situations where Dolidze got the better exchanges. Doing more damage in Round 3 for Giles was what the fight came down to, and that's why he won.
Stepping in for Du Plessis
March 10, 2021
Dolidze will replace Dricus Du Plessis and fight Trevin Giles at the UFC event on March 20, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
Dolidze will look to keep up his undefeated record versus Giles later this month. In seven of his eight professional fights, Dolidze has recorded a win via early stoppage. That wasn't the case in his most recent match, when he defeated John Allan via split decision last December.
Undefeated record remains
December 5, 2020
Dolidze defeated John Allan via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 27-30) at UFC on ESPN 19 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
This was a clear cut victory for Dolidze and one in which he fought considerably better than the "split decision" term would lead you to believe. Not surprisingly, the one judge who scored the fight for Allan was Chris Lee, who has a history of woeful decisions on his resume. Recognizing the advantage he had over Allan on the mat, Dolidze picked up a big takedown in each of the first two rounds. That lead to more than five minutes' worth of control time over the course of the first ten minutes of the fight. While the third round was probably a bit closer than the first two, Dolidze still controlled most of the action. Questions remain about Dolidze's long-term potential considering he has all of eight professional fights under his belt at age 32, but it was nice to see him pick up a win in a fight in which he didn't record an early stoppage.
Next fight set
August 19, 2020
Dolidze will fight John Allan in a light heavyweight matchup at UFC 255 on Nov. 21, Raphael Marinho of reports.
This will be a match of relatively green fighters as both Dolidze and Allan have just one UFC appearance apiece. Dolidze is coming off a win in his debut in July via first-round-stoppage (kick), while Allan has not fought since 2019 due to a suspension. Allan has compiled 12 of his 13 professional wins via stoppage, while Dolidze is undefeated in seven pro fights with a 100 percent stoppage rate. Regardless of what side a daily fantasy player is on, this will be one to take a good look at.
