Set to face Reyes in UFC 310
Light HeavyweightUFC
August 9, 2024
Smith is set to face Dominick Reyes in a light heavyweight bout at UFC 310 on Dec. 7, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith lost to Roman Dolidze via unanimous decision (27-30, 28-29, 27-30) at UFC 303 on June 29, and the veteran has been struggling of late with a 2-4 record over his last six fights. The 36-year-old is certainly making his final steps in an octagon and will hope to turn things around here.

Struggles against Roman Dolidze
Light HeavyweightUFC
June 29, 2024
Smith lost to Roman Dolidze via unanimous decision (27-30, 28-29, 27-30) at UFC 303 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
When you get a fight between two guys that are friendly with each other on extremely short notice, this is the type of bout you are left with. Smith appeared aging and tired throughout the course of the fight. He had competed fought less than two months ago and was likely looking forward to an extended break. Instead, he got Dolidze here and accomplished next to nothing offensively over the course of 15 minutes. On a more positive note, Smith didn't absorb a ton of damage outside of a Round 2 slip which allowed Dolidze to end up in a dominant position on the mat. Smith, who will be 36 years of age in late-July, is closing in on 60 professional fights. He's 2-4 in his past half-dozen bouts and is clearly running out of time.

Taking on Ulberg at UFC 303
Light HeavyweightUFC
June 13, 2024
Smith will take on Carlos Ulberg at UFC 303 on June 29 in Las Vegas, according to UFC President Dana White.
ANALYSIS
Initially, Ulberg was scheduled to compete against Jamahal Hill, who cannot make UFC 303 because of a knee injury. In steps Smith, who is looking to feed off his upset win over Vitor Petrino at UFC 301. Ulberg is no slouch though, as he has fought off a rough debut for the promotion by going on a six-fight win streak, all but one of the victories being finishes.
Gifted UFC 301 upset victory
Light HeavyweightUFC
May 4, 2024
Smith defeated Vitor Petrino via submission (guillotine choke) at 2:00 of Round 1 at UFC 301 on Saturday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
ANALYSIS
As always, they don't ask how you win, they just ask if you did. 35 years of age and approaching 60 (!!!) professional fights, Smith had nothing in the early going here, as he was repeatedly pounded by Petrino on the feet. Yet, Vitor foolishly attempted a slam during an exchange along the fence, and being the wily veteran he is, Smith grabbed ahold of his neck and never looked back. The end result was an upset win as a +350 underdog. Anthony entered with losses in three of his prior four bouts, and everything early on in this one suggested he was on his way to another defeat. The win should buy Smith some time with the company, but the UFC needs to be exceedingly careful regarding who it matches him up against moving forward.
